Stranded Deep How to Kill the Sea Monsters

At the surface level, Stranded Deep seems to be a game only about crafting items and trying to survive. For players who don’t spend a lot of time with the game that is all it will ever be. Those who get out and begin exploring a little more in-depth will eventually find massive towers in the middle of the ocean that contain a sleeping bag and board for missions.

Most people would never realize that there are actual missions to complete in Stranded Deep, but these can wind up being very interesting aspects of the game. At the moment there are only three missions to accomplish, and they are incredibly difficult. Players will be tasked with bringing down three terrifying sea creatures that are capable of killing unprepared players extremely quickly. This guide will show players how to bring these sea monsters down.

Stranded Deep: Finding Mission Towers

Mission towers are the only way to begin fights against the sea monster bosses. These towers aren’t exactly easy to find either, so players will need to be relatively well prepared just to seek them out. It is recommended to have a very well built raft and access to a decent amount of weapons in case hungry sharks attempt to attack the player.

These towers will randomly appear on the map far out in the deeper parts of the ocean. This means that players will have to travel far distances on the sea in order to happen upon them. Those who reach a tower will find that there is no loot inside to collect and only the mission board and a sleeping bag. Luckily this means that players can use the bag to sleep and save before attempting to fight one of the sea creatures, as well as having a safe place to prepare for the fight ahead.

Stranded Deep: Using the Right Raft

If players don’t have a very durable raft while fighting the bosses, they will find themselves dead or stranded in the middle of the ocean. Players should ensure that their rafts are built out of barrels and corrugated metal so that it has the best durability possible during these fights. Especially since these creatures will attack the raft and try to break them to stop the player from attacking them. Additionally, all three bosses will attempt to capsize these rafts and knock players in the water. Players will want to strap several raft pieces together to make sure their raft is more stable and resistant to being flipped over.

Stranded Deep: Megalodon Fight

This is the easiest of the boss fights, but that doesn’t mean that players shouldn’t keep their guard up. The Megalodon is capable of dishing out a lot of damage and can drag players deep below the sea. This is not the kind of enemy that should be trifled with.

Gear: Players should make sure to have several things with them to ensure that they survive this fight. They will want to have several bandages on their person considering the Megalodon’s bites will cause bleeding damage. Players should also keep a container of water on them as well, because this fight may take quite a while.

Weapons: There are several options for weapons in this fight, but it is highly recommended that players only try to fight the Megalodon from a distance if they can. That means that players should probably invest in the spear gun and have a full inventory of ammo. This weapon does just as much damage as crude spears but stacks up to 24 in the inventory compared to 4 for the spears. It is also a good idea for players to carry a refined axe with them just in case they run out of spears or ammo.

Fighting the Megalodon: The trick to fighting the Megalodon is to try and stay out of the water as much as possible. If this giant shark manages to knock players off their raft it will be able to cause a massive amount of damage and cause the bleeding effect. If players are used to fighting the Great White Shark, then luckily this fight won’t have many surprises for them. The Megalodon does have one trick up his sleeve though as it can jump out of the water and try to drag players underwater.

Players should try their best to avoid the jump attack and either throw spears or use the spear gun to attack the shark whenever they have an opening. This may be obvious, but it is in the player’s best interest not to miss. If they run out of ammo, there will be no way to get more without quitting the mission. Those who do run out before the Megalodon goes down, they will have to jump in the water with their axe and finish the job.

Stranded Deep: Moray Eel Fight

This fight is a little more difficult than the Megalodon as it is capable of dishing out twice as much damage and has a little more health. Luckily, it has the same abilities as the Megalodon so players who beat the shark should be alright. Keep in mind that the Moray Eel is thinner though, so hitting it with spears will be a little more difficult.

Gear- Players will want to bring bandages and some water with them just like the first boss fight. Because of this creature’s damage-dealing capabilities, players may want to bring a few extra bandages along just in case.

Weapons- Players should be sure to bring the spear gun and plenty of ammo with them for this fight. The Moray Eel has more health than the Megalodon, so players who wish to bring the eel down more quickly may want to stock up on some refined spears as well. They are capable of doing more damage than the spear gun and crude spears but are a little more difficult to craft.

Fighting the Moray Eel- Once again players will want to avoid the water as much as possible during this fight. Other than the creature sporting higher health and attack power, the strategy is exactly the same as for fighting the Megalodon. The only other thing that players should do is use their refined spears whenever possible to deal a massive amount of damage to the Eel.

Stranded Deep: Giant Squid Fight

This is Stranded Deep’s final boss and it truly shows. This is an absolutely grueling fight that will force players to remain on their toes. The Giant Squid is capable of doing anywhere from 200-300 points of damage with every attack, and the fight is considerably different than its predecessors. Those who are not prepared will die.

Gear- This fight will put a significant strain on the player’s inventory limit. Players will want to ensure that they bring everything they possibly can with them to this fight to heal themselves and deal damage. The trick here is to remove a section of flooring in the center of the raft and use it for storing a few extra items. This is a great place to throw some extra water skins or bandages for this fight.

Weapons- The Giant Squid is so strong powerful that crude spears and the speargun will do very little damage. Unless the player manages to hit with every single attack, they most likely won’t be able to bring the creature down. Players should carry about half of their inventory full of spear gun ammo and then the rest with some refined spears. If possible players should store extra refined spears in the storage area of their raft.

Fighting the Giant Squid- With the massive amount of health that the Squid sports, this fight will take players quite awhile. The basic idea of staying out of the water remains true for this fight, but the Giant Squid has ways to make that more difficult for the player. Rather than jumping out of the water at the player, the Squid will instead use its tentacles to grab or push the player off of their raft. Once in the water, the Squid will take a big bite out of the player and cause a lot of damage.

The trick to this fight is to avoid the tentacles at all costs. Players who are fast and good at throwing spears will actually be able to hit the tentacles before they can attack. In between tentacle attacks the player will want to look into the water and throw as many spears at the Squid as they possibly can. Luckily, this creature is massive and therefore pretty easy to hit. Hopefully, players don’t run out of spears during this fight. It is not recommended to get in the water and attack the creature head-on.
