A new Stranger Things promotional spot teases the season 3 premiere date and gives fans their first look at Maya Hawke’s character. Ever since the second run of Netflix’s popular sci-fi series concluded last year, everyone has been wondering when viewers can return to Hawkins, Indiana for more adventures. With the next batch of episodes in the midst of production, the company line has been Stranger Things 3 will debut at some point in 2019.

Keeping in line with the show’s mysterious nature, Netflix isn’t beyond using viral marketing techniques to provide clues about what’s in store. Stranger Things’ 1980s setting provides the streaming giant with several opportunities to get creative in regards to advertising, and the marketing department has done it again with a new video that potentially hints at some details for the third season.

The official Netflix YouTube account posted an ’80s-inspired spot touting the wonders of the brand new Starcourt Mall in Hawkins. In addition to having an abundance of stores for all members of the family, it’s also home to a great food court. It’s here Steve and his new friend (played by Hawke) work at the Scoops Ahoy ice cream shop. At the end of the video, there’s a title card that reads “Coming Next Summer!” Many have theorized this is the season 3 premiere window.

That date would make a good deal of sense, seeing that set photos of Millie Bobby Brown indicate principal photography is still ongoing. It may still be a few months before the season is wrapped; for season 2, they started production on the final episodes in April 2017 and didn’t conclude until June of that year. The team likely still has a ways to go before finishing, meaning it would be a stretch to expect new Stranger Things this fall or winter. As frustrating as the extended gap between seasons might be, most fans would prefer Netflix takes their time putting the upcoming episodes together, so season 3 can live up to the high bar set by its predecessors. Between continuing the stories of the returning cast (like Eleven’s coming of age tale) and introducing another bevy of new characters, there’s a lot on Stranger Things 3’s plate.

Speaking of those fresh faces, it’ll be interesting to see how Hawkes’ Robin fits into the group. When the actress was cast, the role was described as an “alternative girl” bored at her job. Based on the promo, she’ll be spending a lot of time alongside Steve, who is no stranger to all the craziness that’s happened in Hawkins. Perhaps Robin can even be a new love interest for Steve, after Nancy started a relationship with Jonathan at the end of season 2. Steve will continue to be a primary presence on the show with more “Dad Steve” antics, so hopefully the showrunners have some fun things in store for him.
