Superman & Lois Season 2 Image Reveals First Look At Arrowverses Lucy Lane

A new Superman & Lois season 2 image has provided the first look at the return of Lucy Lane to the Arrowverse. The sophomore run of The CW’s newest superhero drama follows a premiere season that was met with much critical and audience praise. With the return of Lucy Lane, it looks like the second season is looking to bridge the gap with the main Arrowverse, which season 1 remained largely removed from.

Jenna Dewan first appeared as Lucy Lane on Supergirl in 2016, back when the series was still in its first season on CBS. She disappeared before the Arrowverse introduced Elizabeth Tulloch as her sister, Lois Lane, during the Elseworlds crossover in 2018. Despite seeing two different versions of their father throughout the years, fans have yet to see the two Lane sisters on-screen together in the Arrowverse.

Now, thanks to new images released by TVLine, fans have their first look at Lucy Lane’s return to the Arrowverse in Superman & Lois season 2. From all reports, Dewan is returning as a recurring character in season 2, potentially brought to Smallville by her father’s retirement from the DOD at the end of season 1. Alternatively, though not much can be gleaned from the image, the fact that she is not in a military uniform might hint that Lucy herself might have left the armed forces as well, hence the time she will be spending with Clark and Lois in season 2.

In the years since playing Lucy Lane on Supergirl, Dewan has kept busy with numerous other opportunities, from a recurring role on FOX’s The Resident to starring in Netflix’s Soundtrack and most recently being promoted to series regular on ABC’s The Rookie. With all that on her plate, it is hard to imagine a scenario where she sticks around for even a recurring role in Superman & Lois beyond season 2, unless she were to simply cameo in an episode or two in future seasons. In fact, it is almost surprising that she even made time to be a recurring character in season 2.

There is a chance bringing Lucy Lane into the series had a lot to do with trying to tie the show more into the Arrowverse proper. Season 1 felt almost like it stood outside the rest of the CW DC universe, with only John Diggle’s brief appearance telling audiences that Superman & Lois was indeed still part of the shared universe. However, some might say that was one of the show’s greatest strengths, as it did not struggle with continuity and tying into a half-dozen other superhero shows the way most of the other Arrowverse shows do. Hopefully, even with the introduction of Lucy Lane, the show will continue to entertain and produce quality episodes in season 2 and beyond.
