After years of buildup, Superstore fans are ready for Amy and Jonah to end the will they/won’t they chapter of their relationship. The couple broke up at the beginning of Season 6 when America Ferrera departed the series, but the show made sure not to close the door on the romance for good.

With the sitcom coming to an end, it’s now or never, and after everything they’ve been through, it’s hard to believe that the couple won’t find their way back to each other. There are several reasons why Amy and Jonah’s reunion is necessary for the series to wrap up properly. They’ve always been the heart of the show, and a conclusion that involves Amy and Jonah being together would do the characters and their relationship justice.

10 Jonah’s A Parent To Her Kids

Amy and Jonah started dating months before Amy had her second child, Parker. Adam might be Parker’s biological father, but Jonah was in the hospital room the day he was born. Jonah and Amy live in the same house, and Jonah takes care of Parker and helps out with Amy’s teenage daughter, Emma.

If Amy and Jonah don’t end up together, Jonah won’t only lose the woman he loves, but the kids he’s come to see as his own.

9 They Make One Another Better

Amy and Jonah bring out an entirely different side to one another. Amy is a stickler for the rules and doesn’t allow herself to have fun, while Jonah is the complete opposite. Jonah’s all about finding the bright side of a situation, and he can be pretty reckless when it comes to his life choices.

Amy helps Jonah take his life more seriously, and Jonah helps Amy realize that it’s okay to have fun once in a while. Their mess-around episodes are often the most comical of the series.

8 Neither Of Them Wanted To Breakup

Superstore went of its way to showcase that neither Amy nor Jonah wanted to break up. In fact, Jonah wanted to marry Amy and become a family. But Amy’s unhealthy relationship with Adam has made her wary of marriage, and with everything else going on, Amy couldn’t give Jonah the answer he wanted.

Although Amy wanted to stay together, whether they both move to California or try long-distance, Jonah couldn’t be with her without some sort of assurance of the future. Their breakup was painful for them both, as it’s clear that they’re still in love with each other.

7 Their Relationship Remained A Plot Point

Even though Amy left the show, she was still brought up throughout Superstore Season 6. The show dropped plenty of hints that Jonah was having trouble moving on from Amy, and he even continued to live in her house.

Eventually, Jonah went off about Amy to Kelly, revealing that he still had a lot of pent-up feelings about what happened between the two of them. Amy’s parents even came to the store, and Jonah spent the entire time making the situation a lot more awkward than it needed to be.

6 Amy Is The Best Thing That Ever Happened To Him

In Amy’s goodbye video, Jonah tells Amy that she’s the best thing that ever happened to him. When Jonah first showed up at Cloud 9, he had no idea what he was doing with his life. He was on his way home after dropping out of business school, but something inspired him to apply for a job at the big-box store.

It wasn’t what he was expected, but it was there that Jonah found his purpose. In a way, it feels as if Jonah and Amy were searching for each other all along, and the universe brought them together.

5 They’ll Never Love Anyone More Than Each Other

There’s not much of a point in either of them trying to move on. Amy would have the same problems with marriage no matter who she was with, and Superstore has proven time and time again that Jonah would choose Amy over anyone.

Jonah would be settling for anyone that’s not Amy, and Amy doesn’t even want to be with someone who’s not Jonah. They would be better off ending up alone and focusing on themselves than being paired with a random love interest.

4 Sandra’s Happiness Depends On It

Sandra was Amy and Jonah’s personal cheerleader before they were even a couple. In a way, she represents the fans. She made a “Team Amy” shirt when Jonah was dating Kelly and always expresses a little too much interest in Amy and Jonah’s relationship.

When Amy brings her son to the store, Sandra is determined to find out if Jonah is the father. She also witnesses their breakup firsthand, and her reaction isn’t pleasant, to say the least.

3 Jonah’s Life Is A Mess Without Her

After Amy left the show, Jonah’s life started going downhill quickly. Things don’t go Jonah’s way very often, but that’s a part of what makes his character so fun to watch. However, his troubles in Season 6 have been more upsetting than comical.

He doesn’t get the shift supervisor position, he’s basically told he’s not qualified enough to get a real job, and he’s living in his ex-girlfriend’s house with Marcus as a roommate. Without Amy, Jonah’s luck took a turn for the worst.

2 America Ferrera Is Returning

The reason Superstore broke Amy and Jonah up, in the first place is because Amy was no longer going to be a part of the cast. It’s hard to give fans an endgame if one of the characters isn’t present, but it was recently announced that America Ferrera will be returning for Superstore’s hour-long series finale.

The actress’s departure was the catalyst for Amy and Jonah’s breakup, and now that she’s back, it wouldn’t make sense to keep the two of them apart.

1 They’re Each Other’s Happy Ending

The pilot featured the entire ensemble, but it centered around Amy and Jonah. Amy felt as though every day was the same as the one before and even though he just met her, Jonah wanted to make a difference in Amy’s life. He put glow-in-the-dark stars on the ceiling to give Amy a moment of beauty, and Amy’s life hasn’t been the same since.

With Amy, Jonah finally found his purpose. And with Jonah, Amy realized that life could be so much better than the one she was living. Jonah and Amy have been each other’s happy ending since the moment they met.
