Superstore Meets Friends: 5 Couples That Would Work (& 5 That Wouldn’t)

Superstore and Friends are two of the best comedy shows of their time. If they were to crossover, some romances would work better than others.

NBC’s Superstore is one of the newest comedy series to have fans head over heels for the quirky characters it has to offer, and Friends may just be one of the original gems that no one will ever get over. So, what would happen if all these hardworking individuals from both shows got to meet?

If they took place in the same timeline, there are some duos that would certainly hit it off, while others would very likely crash and burn. It’s time to see where the romance would flourish and where it would falter if these lovable crews were merged.

10 Wouldn’t Work: Cheyenne & Ross

Cheyenne has a heart of gold, but she really is just a free spirit that’s looking to have a good time and keep a smile on her face. This relationship would be a lot like Ross dating Elizabeth. Ross is in a much more mature mindset, and he values intellectual conversations.

They would get along, but there really wouldn’t be a sustainable romance between these two. Cheyenne wouldn’t like Ross trying to organize her life, and Ross would get a bit tired of Cheyenne’s outgoing and carefree attitude.

9 Would Work: Garrett & Phoebe

Phoebe might have to push Garrett to have a bit more passion but they both have outgoing personalities that could definitely compliment each other. They both like to chill and have some fun, and they could certainly do that together.

Phoebe wouldn’t push Garrett to do things he doesn’t want to do, and Garrett would keep Phoebe grounded on planet earth. They could have a supportive and easygoing relationship and could make it work if they both gave it a shot.

8 Wouldn’t Work: Dina & Monica

There really isn’t a better example of how two Type-A personalities would definitely not get along. Dina and Monica have a lot of similarities, from organization to being the leader to saying how things really are. Of course, a relationship probably only needs one of these types of people.

Dina and Monica would probably argue over everything since they both like things ‘their way.’ They’re both strong and independent gals, but their strong-headed nature would certainly clash. These two probably couldn’t even be friends.

7 Would Work: Cheyenne & Joey

These two characters are both some of the sweetest on their respective shows, and they have really outgoing personalities. Cheyenne and Joey would have a ton of fun together, but they do also have enough responsibility that they could make it work.

One “how you doin’?” would floor Cheyenne, and her hilarious and fun spirit would definitely be a winner for Joey. These two would just live life in pure bliss, and wouldn’t care about anything but love and fun. They would be chill and supportive.

6 Wouldn’t Work: Jonah & Phoebe

It’s probably safe to say that Jonah would annoy Phoebe with his constant stories and opinions. Beyond that, Phoebe’s carefree and slightly ditzy personality would also be a turn-off for Jonah. They would mash as Ross and Phoebe do.

They wouldn’t be enemies, but their personalities can definitely clash. Jonah and Phoebe would respect each other, but likely from a distance. They probably wouldn’t see eye-to-eye on many things, and their values are bound to annoy the other.

5 Would Work: Amy & Rachel

Both Amy and Rachel don’t really like to stray too far from the path, but they are also both ambitious and strong-willed. They would be super supportive of each other’s careers and could help each other reach a bit further outside their comfort zones.

They would be a power couple, and their passion, fire, and intelligence would go a long way together. Amy could keep Rachel organized while Rachel could keep Amy a bit more grounded. If they made it work, they’d be unstoppable.

4 Wouldn’t Work: Glenn & Rachel

Rachel could make it work with some characters from this show, but Glenn probably isn’t one of them. Glenn has a heart bigger than everyone else’s combined, but he’s also a bit needy and pretty over-the-top. This isn’t really Rachel’s speed.

Rather, Rachel likes some spontaneity, an intelligent and witty guy, and she certainly like a bit of mystery and passion. While Glenn would treat her like a princess, there just isn’t going to be romance flourishing between these two very different characters.

3 Would Work: Jonah & Monica

This relationship would either be incredible or it would end in total chaos. Jonah and Monica are both competitive, but they could easily have a healthy competition that would keep each other moving forwards and working on their ultimate goals.

They’re also both very intelligent and like to be open-minded, although they are very cemented in the values and opinions that truly matter to them. If they could agree on these, though, they would be a match made in heaven. Monica and Amy aren’t too different, after all, and Jonah and Amy proved to be a powerful duo.

2 Wouldn’t Work: Mateo & Chandler

It’s probably safe to say that Chandler might be a bit scared of Mateo, and Chandler would also certainly get on Mateo’s nerves. Mateo is very blunt and ambitious, and he’s certainly willing to burn some bridges in the process of achieving his goals.

Chandler, on the other hand, doesn’t really care enough to hurt others or really go out of his way to do something grand. He’s a chill guy that relies a lot on his wit and humor, and fans can be pretty sure that Mateo wouldn’t even find him funny – which is totally outrageous.

1 Would Work: Amy & Ross

Amy could probably use someone like Ross in her life, and vice versa. Both of these characters are the responsible, mature, and intelligent ones in their groups. Amy is ambitious and focused, much like Ross is. They could support each other’s career paths and goals.

On top of that, they really view the world in a similar way, and Amy’s organization and passion could definitely match that of Ross’s. They both care deeply about the people around them, and they would make a pretty powerful and adorable pair.
