Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra of Teen Mom OG fame have had many ups and downs in their relationship, both on and off screen. The couple recently celebrated 15 years together and they’ve gone through a lot in that time. Though much of their love story has been on television, their spark ignited long before cameras were rolling.
Viewers first got to know Catelynn and Tyler on 16 and Pregnant in 2009, during which Catelynn gave birth to their first daughter Carly. Soon after, their relationship was put further into the spotlight on Teen Mom. After nine seasons, the two seem stronger than ever, but let’s look back at how they got here.
Tyler & Catelynn Met In Middle School
When Catelynn and Tyler met in seventh grade back in 2005, they began their long journey together. The two started dating in the summer of that year and continued to date throughout high school. “From the age of 13 years old, we literally grew up together, we survived with each other, we conquered chaos with each other [and] I loved every second of every minute!” Tyler said in an Instagram post about their relationship.
Tyler & Catelynn’s First Pregnancy And Engagement
Catelynn and Tyler’s relationship was put to the test when Catelynn got pregnant in 2008, which brought the two on screen for the first time. They made the decision to put their first daughter up for adoption after her birth in 2009, though the couple has reunited with Carly a few times over the years. Going through an unplanned pregnancy forged the couple’s bond and Tyler proposing to Catelynn in early 2010. They hit a few bumps in the road during their engagement, calling off the wedding in 2013 but staying together to work on their relationship.
Tyler & Catelynn’s Second Child And Marriage
The couple welcomed a new baby, Novalee Reign – a.k.a. Nova – into the world in January of 2015. Later that same year, they celebrated 10 years together. And finally, in July of 2015, Tyler and Catelynn got married alongside family and friends.
Catelynn’s Struggle With Mental Health And Their Time Apart
In the fall of 2017, Catelynn opened up to fans on social media about dealing with mental health issues. Once she returned from treatment, she and Tyler brushed off divorce rumors that had been swirling. While the couple was far from calling it quits, they spent some time living apart in 2018 as both Catelynn and Tyler spent some time on themselves. Catelynn posted about how the two have regularly attended couple’s therapy and how it has really helped them through rocky moments in their relationship.
Tyler & Catelynn’s Growing Family & Lasting Love
The couple welcomed another baby girl, Vaeda Luma, in February of 2019. For their wedding anniversary later that same year, the two traveled to Hawaii where Catelynn surprised Tyler with a vow renewal. Their relationship has stayed strong in recent years, though they did have to weather a pregnancy loss in December of 2020. Growing a family has been a tough road for the Teen Mom OG couple, but it didn’t stop them from continuing to try. Catelynn is currently expecting the couple’s fourth child, due in early fall. Through many highs and lows across their 15 years together, Tyler and Catelynn have shown that they are willing to put in the work to be together.
