Teen Wolf 5 Best Friendships (& 5 Worst)

Werewolves, a human, a banshee, a werecoyote, a kitsune, and even a hunter or two made up Scott McCall’s wolf pack. The pack was the central focus for all six seasons of Teen Wolf. Though some members left Beacon Hills and new supernatural beings joined their fight, at its core was Scott and his friends.

Through all of the supernatural battles on Teen Wolf, friendship was the driving force. If not for the bonds among the main characters, they never would have made it through high school. Of course, some of those friendships were more powerful than others.

10 Best: Allison And Lydia

Teen Wolf 5 Best Friendships (& 5 Worst)

When Teen Wolf began, Allison was the new girl. She wasn’t sure about making friends at Beacon Hills, but Lydia introduced herself and drafted Allison as her friend right away. In those days, Lydia was a little more superficial than the later seasons of the series, but Allison saw through her. She was the first real friend Lydia had who didn’t her act. She knew that Lydia was smarter than she appeared, and that she hid how talented she was so Jackson wouldn’t feel inadequate. With Allison, Lydia could be herself for the first time. It didn’t matter if that meant translating archaic Latin texts or shopping for school dances.

9 Worst: Peter And Derek

Teen Wolf 5 Best Friendships (& 5 Worst)

Peter’s desire to get revenge on those who wronged him, and needing a beta to increase his strength, is what kicked off the entire series. Peter was always depicted as a man on the edge, someone continually seeking out power, and someone Derek didn’t always like, despite their familial connection.

When Derek and Peter were younger, however, they were best friends. That friendship mostly went out the window as they got older and Peter repeatedly lied to Derek. They could team up to take on a common enemy and they shared a bloodline, but they weren’t friends — they were allies.

8 Best: Scott And Isaac

Teen Wolf 5 Best Friendships (& 5 Worst)

Isaac and Scott began the series as enemies to a certain degree. When Derek began building his own pack to increase his strength, Isaac was the first teen he chose. Scott didn’t believe Derek should change the lives of teenagers without the teens knowing all of the consequences.

Derek’s decisions put Scott and Isaac at odds a few times over the course of Season 2, but their friendship built organically as the season progressed. Isaac grew to trust Scott more than his own Alpha, eventually becoming a member of Scott’s pack. He even lived with Scott for a time when Derek threw him out.

7 Worst: Tracy And Theo

Teen Wolf 5 Best Friendships (& 5 Worst)

Theo was an ambitious teenager. He wanted his own pack to be as unique as Scott’s. In order to get it, he trusted the Dread Doctors and their chimera experimentation. One of the members of Theo’s pack, and the only one actually loyal to him, was Tracy.

Tracy appeared to be willing to do whatever Theo asked of her, and even harbored more than friendly feelings for him. Theo didn’t feel the same way. Instead, he used Tracy to have an edge in a fight. When she was severely injured, he sacrificed her and stole her strength for himself.

6 Best: Erica And Boyd

Teen Wolf 5 Best Friendships (& 5 Worst)

If given a chance, Erica and Boyd might have wound up as more than friends, but we’ll never know. Derek drafted both of them into his new pack in Season 2. While Boyd was a bit quieter in his enjoyment of his werewolf power, Erica was decidedly not. As Isaac pulled away from them, the two grew closer to one another. They even planned to leave the hostilities of Beacon Hills behind.

Erica and Boyd supported one another in their confrontations with their Alpha, Derek, and made a run for it. Unfortunately, the Alpha Pack caught them, and Erica didn’t make it for much longer. Boyd noted that his “only friend” was gone when he returned to Beacon Hills in Season 3.

5 Worst: Scott And Liam

Teen Wolf 5 Best Friendships (& 5 Worst)

Scott never wanted to give anyone the bite unless they truly desired it. Even in the case of his best friend, Scott determined he would only bite Stiles if Stiles was in danger of dying. With Liam, Scott didn’t have much of his choice. He had to bite the freshman in order to save him from falling off the roof of the hospital.

That was the start of a pretty antagonistic relationship between the two. Though Liam wanted to be a leader, and Scott wanted to help Liam, the two never saw eye-to-eye on anything. That created more conflict between them instead of a balanced relationship.

4 Best: Lydia And Stiles

Teen Wolf 5 Best Friendships (& 5 Worst)

Lydia and Stiles might have been the most surprising pair of friends to develop throughout Teen Wolf. At the start of the series, he had a massive crush on her while he didn’t even show up on her radar. Lydia’s own supernatural lineage and Stiles’ place in Scott’s world drew them together.

The two became nearly inseparable over the course of the show. Stiles was the first phone call Lydia made when things got weird. The two of them worked together to solve the mysteries around them, leaning on one another for support when things got tough. Even though it was clear that Stiles always had feelings for her, the two maintained a close friendship even while they were seeing other people.

3 Worst: Aiden And The Pack

Teen Wolf 5 Best Friendships (& 5 Worst)

When Aiden and Ethan came to Beacon Hills, they did so with the Alpha Pack. As the Alpha Pack became more and more violent, Ethan started to doubt they were doing the right thing. He became closer to the members of Scott McCall’s pack, even wanting to join when the Alpha Pack was dismantled.

Aiden, on the other hand, enjoyed working with the Alpha Pack a little too much. He was more violent than Ethan, only trying to redeem himself because he wanted the protection of another pack. He only really even tried to be a better person with regards to Lydia. Otherwise, Aiden had no interest in any kind of true friendship with the members of Scott’s pack.

2 Best: Scott And Stiles

Teen Wolf 5 Best Friendships (& 5 Worst)

The very first friendship the show introduced to the audience was that of Scott and Stiles. A couple of teenagers searching for a dead body in the woods, their relationship didn’t change much over the course of the show. They were more than friends; they considered themselves brothers.

Stiles was the one who initially coached Scott through his werewolf transformations. He was also the one to talk Scott down when he was ready to end his own life. Likewise, Scott was the one there for Stiles when Stiles was afraid he had the same degenerative brain disease that took his mother from him. These besties never abandoned one another.

1 Worst: Jackson And Danny

Through the first three seasons of Teen Wolf, Danny was a fan favorite character. He was sweet and funny, the kind of guy everyone wanted to hang out with. When he was first introduced, the audience also discovered Jackson was his BFF. But Jackson, hostile and selfish, didn’t seem like the best friend for him.

Though we saw through Season 2 that Danny was always there for Jackson, even trying to help him figure out if he transformed on the full moon or not, the same couldn’t be said of Jackson for Danny. Danny even made a comment about Jackson always being slightly angry with everyone. It seemed like Danny did all of the work in this particular friendship.
