Liam and Hayden weren’t the only pairing in Teen Wolf that fit the “enemy to lover” trope. The writers also adapted it to form many friendships too.

Teen Wolf 9 Enemy To Lovers (Or Friends) Relationships

Although Teen Wolf did enjoy watching the intense fight sequences and stunning effects, there’s no doubt it was the relationships Scott’s pack formed that kept viewers hooked. Considering that the first episode immediately drew Teen Wolf fans with the “star-crossed” pairing that was Scott and Allison, it’s not surprising that they managed to replicate this success by also engaging with the “enemy to lover” trope and placing their own twist on it.

While there was a couple of “enemy to lover” romances between the hunters, humans, and werewolves, adapting the old trope to “enemies to friends” helped create some interesting and dynamic pairings. It certainly created some great character development, with some villains actually becoming fan-favorite characters. But which ones stood out the most? While they all had their iconic moments, there were some that were more memorable than others.

9 The Twins & Scott’s Pack

They may have only played a major part in the third season, but fans thoroughly enjoyed watching Ethan and Aiden’s redemption arc in season 3. Starting out as villains, Ethan and Aiden tormented Scott and his friends as they attempted to recruit Derek and Scott.

However, they soon turned over a new leaf once they realized that they didn’t want to keep hurting the people they cared about. With Scott’s packs’ influence, Aiden and Ethan eventually became promising members of Scott’s pack, using their fighting skills to take down the Oni and Nogitsune. It did disappoint fans that their stories had been cut short as viewers were only beginning to see how Scott’s moral code and Lydia’s goodness were beginning to change the way they viewed the world – but at least they achieved redemption by the end.

8 Isaac Lahey & Allison Argent

Considering that Allison and Isaac had been enemies in season 2, with the Argent attempting to kill the young werewolf many times, it did come as a surprise to many that they ended up starting a relationship near the end of season 3. Things seemed to be going really well for the two, but sadly, this was another “star crossed” pairing as Allison was killed by the Oni.

Although they weren’t as iconic as Scott and Allison or Stiles and Lydia, many fans did enjoy this pairing as they had great chemistry. They also loved that they always had each other’s backs in the field – even if their ideas were a tad reckless. Since it was established that they had a deep tether, fans would have loved it if they had more time together but unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be.

7 Hayden Romero & Liam Dunbar

Teen Wolf 9 Enemy To Lovers (Or Friends) Relationships

Considering that Hayden and Liam were almost attached to the hip, it’s sometimes easy to forget that they were enemies at one point. With their rivalry beginning pre-series after Hayden held a grudge against Liam for accidentally giving her a black eye in fourth grade, the pair ended up growing closer as they tried to adapt to their new supernatural powers.

Eventually, the pair became an item when Hayden officially joined Scott’s pack. Although it didn’t have much impact on the viewers, particularly since Hayden left the following season, fans still enjoyed watching it unfold on-screen. It was sort of reminiscent of the experiences Scott and Allison went through in season 1 when they first fell in love and hinted that Liam would likely go on a similar journey.

6 Deucalion & Scott McCall

Teen Wolf 9 Enemy To Lovers (Or Friends) Relationships

After making his iconic introduction in season 3, Deucalion made an enemy of Scott when he violently attacked him and attempted to get him and Derek to turn on his pack. Since Scott was considered one of rarest and most powerful Alphas in Teen Wolf, Deucalion was trying to do whatever it took to recruit so his pack would end up being the most unique.

However, it was Scott that ended up teaching him some valuable lessons and made him change his ways, which led to a great friendship. While Deucalion’s villainous tenure will always be memorable, fans did love the watching him take up a new role as Scott’s mentor. Not only did he help him improve his fighting skills but his knowledge also aided Scott’s pack in defeating some powerful foes (including the Anuk-ite, Theo, and Monroe’s army). It would have been great if he could have had a regular role instead of a supporting one.

5 Liam Dunbar & Theo Rankin

Considering that Theo attempted to destroy Scott’s pack and almost manipulated Liam into killing the Alpha, it’s not surprising that Liam couldn’t stand him. Where Liam was selfless and reliable, Theo was the opposite. He was only out for himself. However, after Theo sacrificed himself to the Ghost Riders to protect Liam, they eventually struck up a friendship.

Surprisingly, Liam and Theo’s bond proved to be quite popular with the fans as many loved the chemistry between the two. Since there was a lot of tension, fans always found it hilarious when they would argue over the slightest things. They also loved how they were a positive influence on one another, with Liam teaching him the code and Theo helping him to control his powers. Hopefully, this friendship will appear again in the movie.

4 Isaac Lahey & Scott McCall

While they weren’t strictly enemies, Scott and Isaac didn’t exactly get off to the best of starts since Isaac was willing to kill Lydia on the orders of Derek. Since Scott refused to allow this to happen, the viewers often saw them clash and fight. However, after Derek’s pack disbanded in season 2, Scott welcomed Isaac into his.

Scott and Isaac’s sibling-like relationship brought plenty of hilarious moments to the show, especially when they would get into little, playful arguments. Fans particularly loved how extremely protective of one another they were, even going as far as to risk their own lives to ensure the other person was safe. Isaac may not have felt like he had anyone when he was first introduced to the show, but he would always have a home with the McCall family.

3 Derek Hale & Chris Argent

Teen Wolf 9 Enemy To Lovers (Or Friends) Relationships

Many fans will agree that Chris Argent had one of the best character arcs on Teen Wolf. Considering the Argents were full of prejudiced and violent hunters, it’s not surprising that Chris began the show as a sworn enemy of Derek’s. Fans didn’t think they would ever see eye-to-eye after it was revealed that Chris’ sister, Kate, was the one responsible for killing several Hale members in a house fire. However, in a surprising turn of events, this was what brought them closer.

After Kate continued to cause havoc for Scott’s pack, Derek and Chris stepped up and decided to protect the young teens. Many fans appreciated that they found a common goal. Although their partnership did lead to a few reckless ideas and a few arguments, it was nice to see that the two men really wanted Scott’s pack to succeed and put their grudge aside to do whatever it took to help them.

2 Lydia Martin & Stiles Stilinski

Teen Wolf 9 Enemy To Lovers (Or Friends) Relationships

If there was one romance that was the epitome to the “enemy to lovers” trope, it was Stiles and Lydia. Considering that Lydia and Stiles were in two different social circles at the beginning of the show, especially since Lydia ignored Stiles most of the time, many fans knew there would be a long way to go before they got together.

However, after both characters went through significant periods of growth and several other relationships, Stiles and Lydia officially item became an item in season 6. While it greatly disappointed fans that they didn’t see much of this newfound dynamic explored on-screen, many Teen Wolf fans are hoping the couple will be revisited in the 2022 movie. After all, it would be a shame to waste their development and connection.

1 Chris Argent & Scott McCall

Chris and Scott might not have had the most ideal alliance when the show first began, but thanks to Allison, it wasn’t long before the two found themselves joining forces. This particularly happened after Allison’s death, where Chris made a promise that he would uphold the oath she created (“to protect those who cannot protect themselves”) and look out for Scott’s pack.

This newfound bond certainly intrigued a lot of people, especially since fans were curious as to how Gerard would react to his son changing sides. It was also great to see Chris take on a mentoring role for Scott, helping to improve his tactics and teaching him how to outsmart hunters. Now that Chris is in a relationship with Scott’s mother, who knows what their new relationship will be like?
