In the world of Teen Wolf, it seems like every character is more powerful than the average human. But some main characters are stronger than others.

In the world of Teen Wolf, it seems like every character is more powerful than the average human. Some characters have fangs and claws, others have a powerful scream, and some can even control electricity. Those superpowers don’t always make a character truly powerful though.

Instead, what makes a character powerful in Teen Wolf are things like compassion and their ability to inspire. The most powerful characters aren’t the ones who can throw their opponent the farthest, but the ones who inspire faith – even from the people who despise them. Becoming an Alpha, after all, doesn’t just have to be about taking out the competition, but having the will to persevere.

10 Derek

Derek wants to be a great Alpha. He wants to be the kind of leader who can inspire others and lead them to victory, but, unfortunately for him, he always seems to fall a little short.

When Derek tries to mentor Scott, Scott refuses to join his pack because he disagrees with Derek’s methods. Even Derek’s Betas, Boyd and Erica, abandon him and Beacon Hills altogether. Isaac joins Scott. As much as Derek thinks his own mistakes can become lessons for others, he fails to teach them and hold onto any power, unlike the other Alphas in the Hale family.

9 Kira

When Kira moves to Beacon Hills with her parents, she’s an outsider who finds a place in Scott McCall’s pack. Kira is a team player, and someone just beginning to learn how to use her abilities.

As a result, her ideas aren’t always the ones everyone wants to listen to. She also doesn’t inspire much confidence as her lack of control puts others in danger. It’s clear that her friends care about her, but she doesn’t hold much sway amongst them. In fact, once she leaves Beacon Hills to train with the Skinwalkers, it’s like they all forget about her.

8 Liam

Like Kira, Liam enters the series as someone with new powers. He’s Scott’s first official Beta as Scott bites into his arm to save him from falling off a building.

Liam struggles with his newfound abilities in large part because of his ever-present anger. That anger and impatience also prevent him from demonstrating the leadership qualities that see so many characters drawn to the more powerful members of the series.

7 Peter

Peter holds a lot of power in one respect: messing up the plans of other people. He always has a scheme and a plan, as well as a desire for more and more of what the audience traditionally thinks of as power. He, after all, the first Alpha werewolf the series introduces, and he does set the events of the show in motion.

Peter, however, doesn’t inspire much loyalty in others. He also doesn’t actually see many of his own plans meet successful ends. He experiences a time when he has power briefly, like when Derek or Kate trust him to help them, or when Malia calls him “dad” for the first time, but ultimately, he’s not one of the most powerful of characters.

6 Malia

When Malia Tate joins the series, she’s more animal than human, used to living as an actual coyote in the wild. As a result, she’s someone Scott’s pack tries to control more than allow her to come into her own power.

Malia does eventually become a major influence in Scott’s pack. Her ideas are heard and she’s always an important part of the plans, even when Scott and Stiles don’t want to tell her the truth about her family history. She might not be the person everyone looks to for answers, but she is someone people look to for help.

5 Allison

Allison doesn’t have claws, fangs, or a piercing cry. Instead, her weapons of choice are a crossbow and plenty of compassion. It’s the latter that makes Allison powerful.

Allison is one of the few humans that the supernatural creatures in Beacon Hills trust with their secrets. Though she’s from a long line of hunters, Allison even gets her family to take a new motto as Allison’s corner of the Argents become protectors instead. She inspires change, and that is certainly powerful.

4 Theo

Since Theo is an antagonist amongst heroes, it might seem strange to see him amongst the most powerful. Theo’s power isn’t necessarily in inspiring trust, but in manipulating the events around him.

It’s Theo who brings the Dread Doctors to Beacon Hills. It’s also Theo who gets members of Scott’s pack to turn on one another, something no other villain successfully does. He manages to make Stiles the odd man out, despite Stiles being one of the most trusted of the group.

3 Stiles

There’s an old saying that “knowledge is power,” and in the case of Stiles, that’s certainly true. Stiles’s aptitude for learning and putting puzzles together is where most of his power comes from.

These abilities are what draw the members of the McCall pack to him. They trust Stiles to form their plans and figure out their next step, despite him not having any supernatural abilities. Stiles is one of the few people that no one in the pack is willing to sacrifice because of just how much they need him.

2 Lydia

When it comes to social influence in Beacon Hills, Lydia holds all of the power. Long before she learns about the supernatural, she is one of the most popular people in school. She’s influencing style and social circles in town before her Banshee abilities awaken.

Once they do, most of her peers ostracize her, but Lydia is still powerful. The more socially isolated she is from her former friends, the closer she becomes to the supernatural. Lydia is the person everyone looks to for signs. Peter uses her to bring himself back from the dead. Stiles partners with her to track supernatural occurrences. Scott trusts her judgment implicitly, even when she doesn’t make sense.

1 Scott

Could any character in Teen Wolf be more powerful than Scott McCall? Scott grows into a formidable leader. Like Allison, his compassion inspires change in the supernatural community. He also, however, exhibits the natural leadership skills that see his friends follow him into dangerous situations.

Every single person Scott knows is willing to put their life on the line at his say-so. It doesn’t matter how dangerous a plan is, the others will help Scott get through it. That’s largely because everyone knows Scott would never ask anyone to do something he isn’t willing to do himself.
