Tessa Thompson and Justin Theroux lent their voices to the title roles in the 2019 live-action redo of the Disney classic, Lady and the Tramp. And just like the infamous spaghetti scene, fans ate it up!

As you may know, the film follows the romantic dalliances of a street-smart mutt (Theroux) and a prim Cocker Spaniel (Thompson) who share an adventure of a lifetime. Lady doesn’t quite trust the Tramp at first, but over time mutual respect turns to trust, trust turns to love, and love leads to wedded canine bliss!

9 Sorry To Bother You (2018) 6.9/10

In Boots Riley’s wildly refreshing take on the systemic racism of corporate ladder-climbing, Tess Thompson plays Detroit, the loving girlfriend of Cash Green (LaKeith Stanfield).

When Cash lands the soul-crushing job as a telemarketer, he instantly has zero success. But when he alters his voice to sound “whiter,” his sales skyrocket. Unfortunately, his professional gains are offset by his personal loss, as the more he succeeds at being “white” the more he alienates Detroit and his other black friends.

8 Annihilation (2018) 6.9/10

Alongside Natalie Portman, Gina Rodriguez, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Tuva Novotny, Thompson comprised the badass female battalion sent to unearth a mysterious natural disaster zone in Annihilation.

Alex Garland’s head-spinning, gravity-defying film follows a band of scientists dispatched to an ecological disaster area in which those who come in contact become severely ill. Thompson plays Josie Radek, a physicist tasked with decoding the environment that bucks the laws of nature.

Thompson reprised her role as Adonis’s significant other, Bianca, in the 2018 sequel Creed II. Only this time the two tied the knot!

Indeed, in Creed II, Adonis and Bianca are a married couple working their issues while the prizefighter enjoys superstardom as the heavyweight boxing champion of the world. But when Creed loses his lust for fighting, it takes a matchup of the ages to rekindle his fire. In vowing revenge for his father’s death, Creed squares off with Ivan Drago’s son, Viktor.

6 Mississippi Damned (2009) 7.4/10

Although it has only garnered 828 IMDB votes in the past decade, Mississippi Damned is still a story worthy of feting. It may actually be more salient now than ever.

Written and directed by Tina Mabry, the film revolves around three poor black children in rustic Mississippi. Marred by a life of neglect, addiction, violent abuse and the like, Thompson’s character Kari tries to rise above through her love of the piano. Kari’s sister struggles to shroud her homosexual identity, while their cousin strives to become a basketball star.

5 Selma (2015) 7.5/10

Critics and IMDB voters agree that Selma is among Thompson’s best and most important movies to date. The film about Martin Luther King’s mobilized Civil Rights campaign in 1965 Alabama is simply beyond reproach!

While she only enjoyed a few moments on screen, the fact remains that Avengers: Endgame is the highest-rated flick of Thompson’s CV so far, according to IMDB. Yup, that’s what happens when you partake in the highest-grossing film in the history of cinema!

As everyone knows by now, Endgame is the epic wrap-up to roughly 12-years of MCU storytelling.
