Fox’s That ’70s Show is often considered one of the best sitcoms of all time. Throughout its run from 1998 to 2006 (8 seasons), it won a total of 16 Emmys. These are impressive numbers that can only be matched by the likes of The Sopranos and Mad Men.

As the name suggests, That ’70s Show is set in the 1970s and focusses on six teenage friends in the fictional town of Point Place in Wisconsin. However, even the best shows are never error-free. The sitcom had a number of continuity errors that were not so easy to notice. Here are a few ones that might have dodged your eyes.

10 Didn’t They Break Up?

In the eighteenth episode of Season One tiled “The Career Day,” Kitty goes downstairs to distribute cookies to the gang. She also informs the ever polarizing and sometimes annoying Eric that she managed to pick a nice “Career Day” outfit for him.

Next, the camera moves to Kelso and Jackie is seen sitting on his lap. However, the two broke up in episode 17. There is no way Jackie could be getting cozy with Kelso immediately after a breakup. This is suddenly corrected in the next shot where Jackie is shown standing behind Kelso.

9 Donna’s Still There

Season Two’s ninth episode was titled “Eric Gets Suspended” and in it, we saw another glowing continuity error. Just after Eric’s suspension, Kelso, Donna, Eric, and Hyde are seen in The Hub. They are having a lengthy chat as usual and everything seems okay then the mistake happens.

After a brief conversation, an angry Donna gets up and leaves. Adios Donna! Well, not really. In the second to next shot, Hyde is sipping a soda and smiling. Just next to him, Donna is clearly visible. Wasn’t she supposed to be long gone?

8 Eric And Hyde’s Amnesia

In Season 1, Episode 22 titled “Punk Chick,” there is a scene where Eric and Hyde are sitting together. The two are bantering and after talking about a couple of issues, they agree that before Hyde leaves for New York, they’ll paint an image of a pot leaf on the water tower.

However, the two had already done this in Episode 21. And that episode was even titled “The Water Tower.” Pretty forgetful huh? Well, not really. In a TV show with such many episodes, even the screenwriters can forget what happened in the previous episode.

7 Eric’s Birthday

In Season One’s second episode Eric’s birthday occurs in May. Eric himself contradicts this in Season Five’s second episode by revealing that he was in fact born in March. Well, you are confusing us there Eric? Which one is it? Is it May or March?

More confusion kicks in later on. In the sixth season, Eric’s birthday happens right after graduation. Going by the graduation calendar, it means his birthday happens right after June. Perhaps he was born on the 29th of February so he can celebrate his birthday whenever he wants.

6 The Magazine Copy

In Season 4, Episode 14 titled “Eric’s Hot Cousin,” there is a scene where Kitty is considering getting a pet, specifically a cat. How fitting? Kitty wants a cat. She is definitely the underrated Catwoman. Only a little older. Sadly, she has to ask Red for approval and Red was never known to be kind.

During the conversation, Red is going through a Time Magazine copy. He proceeds to close the magazine before informing Kitty that he wouldn’t like to have a cat in their home. Come on Red! Give Kitty the cat she deserves. Anyway, the continuity error is seen in the very next shot. The magazine which was on his knees has magically moved back to his arms.

5 Brownies Shifting Hands

Season 8, Episode 11 was titled “Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy.” You’ve got to give it up to whoever was tasked with crafting titles. They always kept it simple, absurd and interesting. By this episode, the series was nearing its end so fewer errors were expected.

In the episode, there is a scene where Jackie and Christine are discussing the importance of honesty. Jackie is holding well-baked brownies but in between consecutive shots, they shift from her hand to Christine’s hands and back to her hand.

4 Hot Donna

In Season 7, Episode 15, Donna introduces the gang to Sarah. Donna also boasts that she had to sort records for 6 months before becoming ‘Hot Donna’. This is not accurate. The screenwriters seem to have forgotten how that happened because it was several years back.

In Season Three’s 14th episode titled “Radio Daze,” Donna got the moniker ‘Hot Donna’ as soon as she started working. She didn’t need six months. This error was definitely not easy for the viewer to catch because it happened between different seasons that were so far apart.

3 Hyde’s Shirt

In about the tenth second of the Season Eight episode titled “We Will Rock You,” Hyde’s shirt is tucked under his pants. In a close-up view that quickly follows, his shirt is seen hanging above his pants. It then returns to its former tucked state immediately after that.

This was obviously a case of not rearranging the cuts properly. Hyde must have entered the scene with his shirt untucked before tucking it. Since different cuts are needed before getting the perfect one, the good cuts ended up getting mixed up.

2 Items On The Table Keep Changing

In Season 6, Episode 13 titled “Won’t Get Fooled Again,” Eric walks to the kitchen and finds Red and Kitty sitting at the table. He intends to inform them that Donna is not really pregnant. He probably should have just let Donna it herself. It can also be argued that him trying to let out this information was for the good of everyone.

A rather interesting continuity error can be noted in this scene. When Eric is talking to them, the items on top of the table keep changing positions in between shots. Sometimes they are seen closer to the edges while at times they are missing. In other shots, some are missing.

1 A Disappearing Teddy Bear

In the 24th episode of Season One titled “Hyde Moves In”, Jackie is sick and lying on her bed. Kelso goes to see her for the second time. Before that Jackie had thrown a teddy bear at the door. When Kelso walks in, the teddy bear can be seen lying in front of his feet.

The next camera angle only covers his body from the waist going upwards. When the camera cuts back to his feet, the teddy near has disappeared. The next shot is a long one and in it, the teddy bear magically reappears behind his feet. This all happens without him moving an inch.
