Reminiscent of the map of the same name from World at War, the Sub Pens map in Vanguard features a facility that houses a U-boat at its center. Though the scenery is much less noticeable on account of most of this map taking place indoors, the atmosphere of the damp, empty building provides an excellent sense of tension to the map.
Having remastered multiplayer maps is one of the biggest changes to Call of Duty’s multiplayer mode, and the creepy halls and rooms of Sub Pens show that this change was for the best.
7 Tuscan
The Tuscan map is composed of a small town, and even though it is not the largest map in Call of Duty: Vanguard, it still features many different areas a player can travel to. With various pathways to go down and buildings to enter, Tuscan offers a variety of opportunities to move about the map.
Visually, the buildings are beautiful, though the effects of the war have caused some of them to sustain damage. This is echoed in the background, which consists of natural beauty as well as fire and smoke.
6 Red Star
One of the largest maps in Call of Duty: Vanguard, Red Star is based in Stalingrad in the Soviet Union during one of the most impactful battles on the Eastern Front. As players traverse the streets of the city, they can take shortcuts through several buildings or stay outside among the various obstacles that can serve as cover.

Although the buildings are scarce, the ones that are there offer a change of environment, adding another interesting layer to the map. This is especially true of the church, which is large compared to the other structures in the setting.
4 Desert Siege
Taking place in Al Jaghbub, Libya, the Desert Siege map features gorgeous scenery paired with a low sun that creates a beautiful atmosphere. Throughout the map, there are many damaged walls that players can use as cover, as well as many buildings through which people can move about the area.
There are also several levels in various buildings, which players can use to track enemies in the more open areas of the map. Certain parts of the setting are more open than others, so players can catch opponents unaware and without cover on occasion.
3 Hotel Royal
Full of light, which is juxtaposed with the destroyed features of the setting, Hotel Royal is one of the most visually stunning maps in the game. In addition to this, it offers very different environments, from the fancy interior of the hotel to the rooftops outside. Various levels and many walls to take cover behind give a lot of spots where players can gain the upper hand.
This map offers many opportunities to surprise opponents, and with help from some of the most powerful weapons in Call of Duty: Vanguard, players can have a major advantage.
2 Numa Numa
The Numa Numa map may be small, but the structures located throughout the area provide an intricate system that makes the setting feel much larger than it is. Traversing the map through these wooden barriers increases the tension, as an opponent could be around any corner.
Also, the artillery shell casings and tanks present around the setting add another fascinating visual feature to this map. Despite Numa Numa’s small area, it has more than enough to offer players, making it one of the best layouts in the game.
1 Dome
Another remastered version of a map from World at War, Dome is a smaller, yet effective, setting. Vanguard’s version is fairly similar to its previous counterpart, with a crumbling environment where the battle takes place.
The knocked-down structures and piles of rubble indoors can be used as obstacles to hide behind, and the outdoor area shows some other burning structures on the horizon, providing a disturbing atmosphere to the background. The map was brought back for a reason, and its remastered version gives players a familiar but exciting experience.
