One of the juiciest aspects of ABC’s hit reality dating show, The Bachelor, is the never-ending spate of dramatic dust-ups, argumentative rows, heated love triangles, and emotional infighting amongst the various contestants. Aside from the widespread search for love, Bachelor Nations fans often tune into the show to see how crazy and out of control the fights become, how they can be reconciled if at all, and how the consequences bear out for the rest of the season.
As The Bachelor season 26 fast approaches its January 3, 2022 premiere date, why not take stock of the most dramatic fights on the popular reality show to date?
Corinne Vs. Taylor – Season 21
During season 21 of The Bachelor, Corrine Olympios and Taylor Nolan had a contentious time vying for Nick Viall for most of the season. But when Taylor flat out confronted Corinne’s stunted “emotional intelligence,” a heated exchange ensued. “Stop treating me like a f***ing idiot, Taylor,” Corinne shouted before storming off.
The foul-mouthed salvos didn’t stop there, with Taylor doubling down in the confessional booth, saying “the emotional intelligence (of Corinne) is lower. And that sounds mean, but it’s the f***in’ truth!”
Arie Vs. Krystal – Season 22
Arie Luyendyk had no shortage of awkward moments as The Bachelor season 22, including a raft of really awful group dates. However, his biggest confrontation came when Krystal Nelson called him a liar to his face, prompting a temporary and tearful divorce of sorts.
To punish Krystal for calling him a liar, Arie deliberately pulled back, told Krystal to stay upstairs by herself while he goes downstairs to join the rest of the suitors. When Arie said “know that I’m not happy about it and I’ll see you in a few days,” Krystal threw a full-fledged tantrum shortly after. It’s this kind of treatment that made many feel that Arie was out of touch with reality.
Olivia Vs. Amanda – Season 20
While vying for the affections of Ben Higgins in The Bachelor season 20, Olivia Caridi and Amanda Stanton nearly came to blows in their extremely dramatic nighttime dust-up. The catty insolence began with Olivia calling Amanda a Teen Mom contestant, which Amanda was quick to set the record straight of having her children at 22 and 24, respectively.
Amanda aggressively affronted Olivia over the matter in a face-to-face exchange, resulting in a teary apologetic meltdown from Olivia who vowed to “try harder” to be a nicer competition.
Juan Pablo Vs. Andi – Season 18
Despite making history to become the first Latino star of the extremely popular reality dating show, Juan Pablo Galavis had a rocky road on the reality show. One of his most agonizing encounters came when Andi Dorfman called him out over being too honest and blunt to the point of hurting people’s feelings.
Juan Pablo tried to counter with “if it’s offensive to you that I’m honest and I say…” before Andi cut him off and loudly declared “there’s a difference between being honest and being an a**hole!” The mic drop moment left Juan Pablo rather speechless.
Tenley Vs. Michelle – Season 14
During Jake Pavelka’s time as The Bachelor in season 14, Michelle Kujawa was one of the first to be sent home. Earlier in her elimination episode, Michelle brazenly confronted Tenley Molzahn for starting a rumor that Michelle slept with Craig M.
Things took a turn for the worse when Michelle locked Tenley in a bathroom, prompting Tenley to break down in tears and express how threatened she felt. The drama spilled over onto the Bachelor Pad spinoff, where the two continued to go at each other’s throats without mercy.
AshLee Vs. Clare – Bachelor In Paradise 2
Season 2 of Bachelor In Paradise featured one of the ugliest unresolved arguments in show history when AshLee Frazier began shaming Clare Crawly over her perceived sexual indiscretions. The beef began when Clare asked Graham on a date 30 minutes after AshLee called dibs on him, prompting a series of hurtful insults.
When new guy Zack later entered the island, AshLee continued to shame Clare, saying she’s “had sex in the ocean, that speaks a lot to her character. Who does that?” After confronting Zack, Clare went hard on AshLee by confronting her face to face. A hollow apology from AshLee followed suit, to which Clare stated “we are not friends.” AshLee retorted with “let’s hug it out,” to which Clare flatly denied, saying “I’m good.”
Jake Vs. Vienna – Season 14
The most cringy and uncomfortably awkward fight in the history of Bachelor belongs to Jake Pavelka and Vienna Girardi during season 14. During the couple’s official interview on the show, Jake verbally and emotionally abused Vienna by shouting at her repeatedly with a maniacal look in his eye.
During the emotionally candid interview, Vienna laments “I know the real you, and I know you would do it if I didn’t.” Jake cruelly retorts with “you don’t know me and I wouldn’t have done it…PLEASE STOP INTERRUPTING ME!” Vienna instantly bursts into tears in sheer terror and storms off the set.
Chad Vs. Chris – Bachelor In Paradise 3
Prior to his exit as host of The Bachelor, Chris Harrison was often known as the neutral peacekeeper who tried to assuage the fights on the show. However, not even Harrison could avoid the aggressive ire of Chad Johnson on Bachelor in Paradise, the polarizing contestant who first appeared on JoJo Fletcher’s season.
Johnson took severe umbrage with the way Harrison was helping shape the narrative around his personality on the show. “No, you’re not gonna come here and make me look like a b*tch and play into everything they’re saying. You act like you see me, you don’t even watch…you went to sleep last night with a mimosa and a robe on!” Chris’ beleaguered facial reaction makes for a hilarious one-sided fight.
Jordan Vs. David – Bachelor In Paradise 5
Jordan Kimball argues so often during his Bachelor experiences that it seems he is specifically cast as a heel to pick fights. After starting beef with David Ravitz on The Bachelorette season 14, the two continued their contentious rivalry on Bachelor in Paradise season 5, where the two competed to win the heart of Jenna Cooper. Jordan ultimately won and the two became one of the best Bachelor in Paradise couples.
In one of the biggest and most entertaining confrontations in Bachelor Nation history, Jordan completely flipped out when David interrupted his heartfelt speech and gave Jenna a giant stuffed animal dog. Donning a ridiculous pink and yellow flower, sleeveless pantsuit, Jordan flies into a fit of rage, strangles the stuffed animal, and launches into the surf.
Victoria Vs. Marylynn – Season 25
During Matt James’ time on The Bachelor season 25, season villain Victoria Larson proved to be an instigator at every turn. Mean, catty, and overtly cruel, Victoria crossed the line by calling Marylynn Sienna “toxic and manipulative” when she really hadn’t done anything to warrant such.
After besmirching Marylynn to Matt behind her back, the two finally sat down to iron out their issues. However, Victoria was rude and dismissive the entire time, saying “no I don’t want to sit next to you” and “yes, I do think you are” toxic and manipulative. The more genuine Marylynn was in her apology, the meaner Victoria became, viciously cutting Marylynn off and countering with one immature and hurtful statement after another.
