Dragon Ball as a whole has been an absolute force in the anime world since 1986. Many series in the show’s universe have been produced, and all of them have their fair share of action sequences for which the franchise is known. Beyond that, characters like Goku, Vegeta, Krillin, Bulma, and many more have become emblematic of the Shounen genre.

On top of being an action-packed series, Dragon Ball also has plenty of funny scenes in-between, and these ten scenes, ranging from the original Dragon Ball series to Dragon Ball Super, are some of the funniest.

10 “No Worries Here” – Krillin Tests Goku’s Super Saiyan Powers

A couple of days before the Cell Games, Goku and Gohan spend some time together in their Super Saiyan forms when they are visited by Krillin. Later on, the two take a nap. Krillin, watching from a distance, is amazed by how much stronger his friend had grown. He soon picks up a rock, believing that Goku would sense it from a mile away without opening his eyes.

However, things don’t turn out as Krillin planned. He throws the rock at Goku, nailing him in the face, and Goku immediately wakes up screaming in pain. Judging from the way that he reacted, one would think that Goku had been seriously wounded.

9 “Frieza’s Counterattack” – Vegeta’s Pink Shirt

Vegeta is very much a masculine character, so he doesn’t take so kindly to things like wearing a pink shirt. Bulma tells her husband to wear a pink “Bad Man” shirt since his armor was in the washing machine. Vegeta, who had just returned to Earth, was left with two options: either endure the pink shirt or walk around naked.

Vegeta becomes incensed with his pink shirt, proclaiming that he’s a warrior and not some “variety of flower.” To make matters even worse for the Saiyan, Krillin and Gohan both laugh at his expense, as does Bulma.

8 “Goku’s Ordeal” – Goku and Piccolo’s Driving Lesson

Chi-Chi demands that Goku and Piccolo take driving lessons, claiming that they both needed them so they could take her out shopping. Goku and Piccolo’s first-time experiences behind the wheel are as hilarious as one can expect.

What makes things even more amusing is that Goku and Piccolo both had different driving instructors, who had their own special quirks. While Goku is stuck with an elderly instructor, Piccolo, who wears a Postboy getup to the driving school, has a driving instructor who’s more on the unhinged side. While Piccolo ends up being a good driver in his own right, Goku winds up driving like a madman.

7 “Arrival Of The Ginyu Force” – The Ginyu Force Arrives

During the Namek Saga, Frieza hires a group of mercenaries to bring him the Dragon Balls. As it turns out, he hires the Ginyu Force, an elite Dragon Ball mercenary team led by Captain Ginyu.

When the Ginyu Force makes their first appearance, it is awfully hard for Freiza to not feel embarrassed. Captain Ginyu and the other members—Jeice, Recoome, Burter, and Guldo—all strike poses that are oddly reminiscent of the Power Rangers. If the poses aren’t enough, the theme song that plays during the introduction—in the DBZ Kai dub—definitely raises the hilarity of the entire introduction scene.

6 “The Mysterious Hero” – Yamcha Vs. Shen

Yamcha is viewed by fans and critics alike as one of the weakest fighters in the Dragon Ball series. So, it is no surprise that he loses easily in the first round at the 23rd World Tournament. He also happens to embarrass himself during his match against Shen.

Promising himself not to hurt Shen, Yamcha attempts to kick his bespectacled opponent out of the ring. However, he lands crotch-first into the back of Shen’s head while delivering his flying kick, just after Shen turns his head. Yamcha is left screaming in pain as the audience laughs at his misfortune.

5 “He Who is of Saiyan Blood Trunks’s Resolve” – Zeno’s Surprise Appearance

Zeno is often considered the Omni-King and is known as the Multiverse’s Supreme ruler. The Gods of Destruction are all afraid of Zeno, and Beerus himself is no exception.

One day, while on his planet, Beerus is greeted by Zeno, who appears in the form of a hologram. At the mere sight of Zeno, Beerus screams and falls out of his chair before taking a formal bow. He headbutts a table in the process as sweat pours down his face. What really kicks this scene up a notch is when Beerus’ attendant, Whis, appears. When Zeno announces his intentions to see Goku, both Beerus and Whis scream out of fright. It’s the most emotion that anyone will ever see from Whis.

4 “Losers Fight First” – Cell vs Mr. Satan

At the Cell Games, Mr. Satan takes up the challenge of fighting Cell to prove who is the strongest Dragon Ball Z character, and the result turns out very poorly for Earth’s Protector.

Mr. Satan starts off his fight by showing off his strength against Cell, attacking the alien with a variety of chops and kicks. He even goes for his Dynamite Kick, which doesn’t affect Cell at all. Regardless, the crowd is enthralled, and the announcer even says that Mr. Satan is moving too fast for Cell to attack. But, as Mr. Satan goes for the final blow, Cell simply slaps him away, sending him flying into a large rock. Suffering from defeat, Mr. Satan sits out the rest of the Cell Games.

3 “Goku’s Energy Is Out of Control?! The Struggle to Look After Pan” – Instant Transmission Woes

Goku teleports away to King Kai’s planet, planning on speaking with King Kai. However, he ends up in someone’s bedroom, instead. That bedroom happened to belong to Bulma, who enters the room wearing nothing but a towel only to turn on the light and see Goku sitting on her bed.

Bulma’s terrified scream garners the attention of Vegeta, who rushes inside the bedroom and is disgusted to see Goku present. When Bulma demands Goku to explain himself, Goku lets Bulma know that he’s not here to see her “saggy breasts.” With Vegeta and Bulma both embarrassed and Vegeta thoroughly incensed, Goku sheepishly teleports away for good.

2 “The Emperor’s Quest” – Goku Takes A Peek At Bulma

When Goku meets Bulma for the first time, he admits that he’s never seen a girl before, and this famous moment in the original Dragon Ball series shows that his knowledge of the female anatomy obviously isn’t the best.

One morning, Goku wakes up and later realizes that Bulma is still asleep. Curious, Goku takes a peek at Bulma and is shocked by what he sees… or, rather, what he doesn’t see. When Bulma wakes up, Goku alerts her about her missing “balls,” and Bulma is thrown into a panic, believing that Goku was referring to her Dragon Balls.

1 “The Return of Goku” – Vegeta Measure Goku’s Power Level

Having found out that Piccolo was killed by Vegeta and Nappa, Goku becomes enraged and starts powering up. He soon arrives at the battlefield to avenge his fallen friend. Vegeta uses his scouter device to detect Goku’s power level, and he notes the dramatic increase.

Nappa asks what Goku’s power level is, and it leads to the classic line uttered by Dragon Ball’s Vegeta: “it’s over 9000!” Vegeta crushes his scouter with his fist as Nappa turns around and looks at his ally in great disbelief. To this day, this scene remains arguably the most notable moment in Dragon Ball history.
