The Ascent How To Complete Trace Protocol

Trace Protocol is one of the most difficult missions to complete in The Ascent. The enemies are high level and there are a lot of them. However, the real challenge during the quest is finding a missing HR manager named Laura Lanier. Her personnel file has been mysteriously purged, and intel suggests she played a role in the illegal smuggling of prominent scientists and exotic materials throughout the sector.

After talking with Poon to get Stimtown access, players will need to visit Stimtown. There, gamers will be able to uncover clues about Ms. Lanier’s whereabouts. The woman is surprisingly hard to track down because the quest is often bugged, but here’s how players can find her.

Deliver Poon’s Package

Once players have met with Poon, simply follow the quest indicators (up on Dpad) to Stimtown. The quest icon will take indents to Loading, which is where Poon’s contact is. Speak with the bartender to deliver the package. The bartender will reveal that Lanier used to frequent the bar, but got too handsy with the other patrons. He will suggest that indents should look at the Dirty Dive, which Lanier also frequented.

At the Dirty Dive, talk to an NPC named Palu. She is Lanier’s ex and will have a few thoughts on where the missing manager might be. After Lanier broke up with Palu, she started associating with the Quiks, a group led by a flatliner named Trenning.

Trenning And The Quiks

The next breadcrumb in the mission will bring players to Trenning, who is not too far from the Dirty Dive. The Quiks occupy a place called Blossom Hill, where Trenning is located. Gamers can hop in a cab back to Cluster 13, whic is a lot quicker than walking all the way there. Follow the indicators from Cluster 13 to Blossom Hill. There will be a host of level 20+ enemies on the way in, so be ready to fight.

This mission is often glitched, making it nearly impossible to find the correct location. Stay on the path, and once players go up the double staircase, they should make a left. Kill the three enemies and go up the stairs straight ahead, making a right at the top of the stairs by the KUidaCre sign. Up the following two flights of stairs there will be a doorway that leads to an elevator. Up the first flight, users can make a right and loot the room, which has an advanced component. The two flights of stairs will take gamers to Lanier’s apartment.

Inspect Lanier’s Body

As soon as players enter the top level, they can go through the first door, which reads “L. Lanier.” Her body will be in the living room just past the front door. Inspect the body to update the quest log. For an extra achievement, players can turn on the tub and sink in the bathroom upstairs.

The apartment contains some decent loot, so don’t forget to explore. A basic component can be found under the stairs. Also, loot the chests at the top of the stairs and by the bed for some Ucred, as well as an advanced component. Players will come across a skill point in the bathroom upstairs as well.

Next, follow the objective outside of the apartment. At the end of the hall, there is a room that can be hacked into that contains a cyberdeck. The following objective will ask gamers to interact with the security console, which will reveal footage of the murder.

Gain Access To The Exmat Lab

Indents will then need to break into the Exmat lab. Stay on the route and fight the mobs on the way there. It is quite the trek to the lab. Taking a taxi to High Street will save players some time if the area has been accessed before. Indents will discover the Umbilical and ReDzev on the way there, and will encounter a large mob at the entrance of the lab. Until the final fight, all the player needs to do is kill enemies in the lab and interact with the objectives.

Celine Boss Fight

Players will need to fight off waves of enemies as the appropriation counts down from three minutes. Additionally, the giant mech named Celine must be defeated. It is recommended that players have some way to heal themselves during this fight. The Biometric Timestamp augmentation and Rejuv grenade are the best options. It should be noted that all of the enemies, including Celine, need to be killed to complete the mission. Use an energy or digital weapon to DPS Celine.

The mobs shouldn’t be too difficult, as most of them are biological creatures. Players will need to spam their augments and pick up health packs to get through all of the adds in this standoff. This is one of the harder objectives to complete, so gamers may want to consider doing it with a couple of teammates. With Celine and the other enemies dead, indents will have finished the mission. If the objective does not update, there is most likely a rouge enemy hiding somewhere in the room — flush them out and kill them.
