While Queen Elizabeth II gave Margaret her word that she had her blessing on their marriage, the law felt a different way. If the Queen were to give her blessing to Margaret, she would lose everything attached to her title as a princess because she’d be marrying a divorcee. We see Queen Elizabeth II at war with herself. Should she go against her country and the church and praise their marriage or should she forbid it?
