Dexter star Michael C. Hall might have revealed that Dexter’s story could continue beyond the revival.

In an interview with NME, Hall was asked if the 10-part limited series would be the definite, official Dexter finale. “I’m reluctant to say ‘definitely,’ you know? Let’s see. What’s plain now is that there’s 10 new episodes,” Hall said. While Hall did not deny the possibility of more Dexter, he only confirmed those 10 new episodes.

It was announced that Dexter would be returning to Showtime as a 10-part limited series, promising a better, more satisfying ending than what was provided by the original series finale. Hall will be stepping back into the role of the titular serial killer, and the show has steadily been adding cast members to its roster, including Daredevil and Thor: Ragnarok star Clancy Brown as the revival’s major villain. It was also reported that John Cusack is being considered for a significant and recurring role.

Dexter ran for eight seasons on Showtime, starring Hall as Dexter Morgan, a forensic blood-spatter analyst moonlighting as a vigilante serial killer. The revival will reportedly pick up where the original series left off: after Dexter faked his death and fled Miami, relocating to Oregon as a lumberjack.

While some details of the finale — like a release date — remain scarce, it was recently revealed that the revival series would not take place in Miami or Oregon, but in a fictional town in upstate New York called Iron Lake. With several new characters and a new environment altogether, it is entirely possible that Dexter could continue beyond a revival miniseries. However, nothing has been confirmed.
