Fans have been long awaiting the release of The Last of Us Part II, and the game will be coming out on June 19 after delays. Gamers are excited to continue the story of Ellie and Joel in the post-apocalyptic world that Naughty Dog has laid out. The game developers have included small details like naming every enemy in the game that create a huge impact on the gameplay itself that fans are itching to experience for themselves.

With this new game in the series come improvements to skill trees and an upgraded combat system from the first The Last of Us, players will have new ways to fight through the game. The way that that new and old skill trees can be obtained in through Training Manuals that are hidden throughout the game.

This guide contains major spoilers for playable characters in The Last of Us Part 2, so proceed with caution.

Training Manual 1 — Crafting

Ellie’s first Training Manual will be found in the Courthouse in Seattle. Players have to visit the location as a part of the story, so they won’t have to go out of their way to obtain it. The book can be found on a bookshelf next to a set of blue filing cabinets and will unlock the Crafting skill tree.

Training Manual 2 — Stealth

The second Training Manual for Ellie is more difficult to find. After Ellie breaks free from the WLF in Seattle, head to the bookstore with a Pride flag on the front. The manual can be found inside on a table next to a typewriter and unlocks the Stealth skill tree.

Training Manual 3 — Precision

Ellie’s third Training Manual can be found after the first time the player leaves the theater in Seattle. Locate the Golden Liquor store, fight off a few Shamblers in the basement, then find the manual next to a decaying corpse by the counter. This Training Manual unlocks the Precision skill tree.

Training Manual 4 — Explosives

The last Training Manual that Ellie obtains is found after she leaves the Seattle theater for the second time and venturing out to Route 5. The manual can be found lying on a bed on the second floor of an apartment building. With this manual, the player unlocks the Explosive skill tree.

Training Manual 5 — Covert Ops

The first Training Manual the player can obtain with Abby can be discovered after being attacked by the Scars. The manual is located in a boat that is suspended in the air. Inside, the player can find the book that unlocks the Covert Ops skill tree.

Training Manual 6 — Firearms

Abby’s second Training Manual can be found in the auto repair shop that the player enters right after meeting Yara and Lev. On top of a gray cabinet near a broken window and water cooler station, players can get the manual that unlocks the skill tree for Firearms.

Training Manual 7 — Close Quarters

The next Training Manual for Abby can be located inside an apartment building known in the game as the Tall Building. Once inside, players can find a safe in a bedroom next to a desk. The safe can be opened with the code 30-23-04 and contains the manual that unlocks the Close Quarters skill tree.

Training Manual 8 — Ordnance

The last Training Manual that the player obtains with Abby is found on the island where the Scars live. On this island is a huge truck with the doors to the cargo bed wide open. Inside on the floor of the truck, players can locate the manual that unlocks the Ordnance skill tree.

The Last of Us 2 gives fans many avenues to play through the adventure that the game lays out. Fans are hoping the game lives up to the reviews and will see for themselves come June 19.
