The memories within Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild offer a glimpse of life before the events of the game. Here are their locations.

Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild completely reinvented the Zelda format in numerous ways. The most drastic change involved placing players in a gigantic open world which gave players complete freedom in how they explore Hyrule, fight monsters, and solve the game’s dungeons.
Breath of the Wild also made a major change to Link by turning him into a famous knight rather than a farmer like in previous installments in the series. Rather than telling this iteration of Link’s backstory outright, the developers at Nintendo gave the protagonist amnesia. They made finding these lost memories an important side-quest in the game. The location of these memories is as follows.
13 Sacred Ground Ruins
To find this memory, warp to Central Hyrule and then go North through Hyrule Field until Link is at the Sacred Ground Ruins. The memory location is the glowing section in the middle of the ruins, which tells how the Champions came together. The dialogue in the memory raises several questions about the timeline Breath of the Wild exists in.
12 Lake Kolomo
To find this memory, warp to Grand Plateau Tower and paraglide towards Hyrule Field. Angle the flight towards Hyrule Castle until Link is at the banks of Lake Kolomo.
The memory location is in a grove of trees with the dueling mountains in the background. Once Link reaches the memory, a cutscene will recount Zelda’s fears as she and the champions work to defeat Ganon.
11 Ancient Columns
This memory is located just outside of the Tena Ko’sah shrine. Warp to Tabanatha tower and go through Piper Ridge until Link reaches the Ancient Columns. The memory location will be visible outside the nearby shrine, making it one of the easiest to find. Link remembers at this location Zelda’s initial disdain at having a personal bodyguard constantly following her.
10 Kara Kara Bazaar
This memory is straightforward to find. Warp to the Wasteland Tower and head towards Gerudo Town. At the Bazaar just outside the town’s limits, there is a small pond. The memory is at the edge of this pond. This memory recounts how Link saved Zelda from assassins early on in their friendship.
9 Eldin Canyon
This memory can be difficult to access if Link does not have a high enough stamina bar. The memory is located between the Eldin and Woodland towers.
From the Woodland tower, paraglide into the mountains. Continue climbing in a northerly direction until Link reaches the destination shown in the picture. The memory shows the aftermath of an epic battle between Link and the forces of Ganon.
8 Irch Plain
Warp to the Ridgeland tower and paraglide towards Hyrule Castle on the Irch Plain. Continue around the perimeter of the castle until a large, solitary tree is visible. The memory is located next to the tree. This memory shows Link and Zelda cataloging some of flora and fauna native to Hyrule.
7 West Neculda
Warp to the Great Plateau Tower and paraglide in the direction of the Dueling Peaks. Once Link crosses Scout’s Hill, the memory is visible under a tree growing atop a large rock. This memory shows Zelda questioning Link’s, and by extension, her own choice to become heroes destined to fight against the darkness.
6 Hyrule Castle
This memory is the most difficult to access because it lies in the game’s most dangerous region. The memory is located in the topmost region of the castle, in the section marked Princess Zelda’s study. The safest way to the memory is to paraglide from the West over the moat, but there is still the winding path filled with Guardians. This location’s memory recalls the tension Zelda had with her father in the days leading up to Ganon’s attack.
5 Spring of Power
This memory is located near the East Akkala Stable. From the stable, get a horse and head north into the grassy field. Eventually, Link will reach a sinkhole with numerous waterfalls pouring into it. Go into the hole, and the memory is at the bottom. The memory shows Zelda’s attempts at awakening her powers.
4 Sanidin Park Ruins
Warp to the Central Tower and head West until Link crosses the Regencia River. Head over the hill on the other side of the river, and a large horse statue is visible. This statue marks the location of the ruins, and the memory is in front of the statue. Players see at this memory Zelda’s contemplations of traveling to the Spring of Wisdom.
3 Lanaryu Road East Gate
This memory is somewhat difficult to access because it is not close to any tower. Instead, head east from Kakriko Village towards the Great Fairy Fountain. From there, a stone path continues eastwards until it terminates at the East Gate and the memory. Numerous monsters spawn along this path, so being well-stocked is advised before attempting to gain this memory. This memory sees the Champion’s comforting Zelda after her powers are not awakened, just before Ganon attacks.
2 Hyrule Field
From the Dueling Peaks Tower, head north until Link reaches the Hylia River. Where the banks of the river meet the Bottomless Swamp, a small grove of trees rises. The memory is located in the middle of these trees and is easy to find once there. This memory shows the immediate reactions of Zelda and Link following the defeat of the Champions and Guardians.
1 Blatchery Plain
This memory is only available once the twelve previous memories have been acquired. Return to Impa once Link has all twelve memories, and she will show you a picture of the final memory’s location. This final memory is located near Hateno Tower. From there, head over the Squabble River until Link reaches the broken down machines of Fort Hateno. The final memory is amidst these machines, and it shows Link’s defeat 100 years before the start of the game.
