Thanks to The Mandalorian, Star Wars fans have faith in the franchise again. The Disney+ show has a ton of memorable guest actors. Who is best?

Created by Jon Favreau, The Mandalorian has effectively saved the Star Wars franchise since it first premiered on Disney+ in late 2019. It’s one of the most popular shows in the world and appeals to both diehard fans of the franchise and casual viewers with less of a vested interest in a galaxy far, far away.
As a result, The Mandalorian has attracted a number of lucrative guest stars to play characters in one or two episodes. The show has featured guest actors ranging from real-life Star Wars fans, like Horatio Sanz, to people who have publicly criticized the saga, like Bill Burr.
Bobby Cannavale’s son Jake Cannavale guest-starred as Toro Calican in Dave Filoni’s season 1 episode “Chapter 5: The Gunslinger.” He’s a wannabe Han Solo type who pairs up with Mando to track down Fennec Shand, an instant fan favorite played by Ming-Na Wen.
While Toro Calican’s characterization is somewhat interesting, Cannavale’s performance as a cocksure gunman isn’t as charming as Harrison Ford’s. Fennec was by far the best new character to come out of this episode.
11 Mark Boone Jr. As Ranzar “Ran” Malk
In the season 1 episode “Chapter 6: The Prisoner,” Mark Boone Jr. played Ranzar Malk, an old associate of Mando’s who hires him to help spring an inmate from a New Republic prison.
Ran doesn’t actually go on the mission, so he only appears in the episode’s opening and closing scenes. The crew themselves were far more memorable than their leader.
10 John Leguizamo As Gor Koresh
John Leguizamo’s guest character Gor Koresh only appears briefly in The Mandalorian’s second-season premiere “Chapter 9: The Marshal,” so the beloved actor and comic didn’t get to make much of an impression.
Koresh is a gangster enjoying a death match between two former Gamorrean guards when Mando pays him a visit in the premiere episode’s opening scene.
9 Michael Biehn As Lang
Guest spots on The Mandalorian aren’t just reserved for current celebrities like Taika Waititi and Bill Burr. The show can also bring back sci-fi and fantasy legends who slipped off the radar.
Michael Biehn starred in a bunch of James Cameron movies throughout the ‘80s, including The Terminator and Aliens, before being cast as Lang in The Mandalorian season 2 episode “Chapter 13: The Jedi.” Unfortunately, his climactic duel with Mando is overshadowed by Ahsoka Tano’s climactic duel with Magistrate Elsbeth.
8 Richard Ayoade As Q9-0
When Mando was tapped to help with a prison break in “Chapter 6: The Prisoner,” the droid that piloted the Razor Crest during the job, Q9-0, was voiced by The IT Crowd’s Richard Ayoade.
While the most memorable droid character introduced on The Mandalorian is undoubtedly IG-11, played by Taika Waititi, Ayoade’s character is a close second.
7 Horatio Sanz As The Mythrol
Horatio Sanz played the first bounty that Mando picks up on-screen in “Chapter 1: The Mandalorian,” an unnamed Mythrol who then reappeared in season 2’s “Chapter 12: The Siege.”
In both cases, Sanz brought plenty of humor to the character. The former SNL cast member was a real-life diehard Star Wars fan before being cast in this show.
6 Misty Rosas As The Frog Lady
The Frog Lady unexpectedly became a fan favorite when she joined Mando and Grogu in “Chapter 10: The Passenger.” She agreed to take Mando to some fellow Mandalorians in exchange for a ride back to her home planet to fertilize her jar of eggs.
Despite not being able to communicate with Mando verbally, Misty Rosas made this character instantly memorable — particularly when the ice spiders showed up and she started bounding through the caves on all fours.
5 Amy Sedaris As Peli Motto
Peli Motto is a mechanic working at Mos Eisley Spaceport with a handful of pit droids. She’s friendly with Mando, but she has a particular affinity for Grogu.
Across The Mandalorian’s two seasons, the character has been played warmly by the great Amy Sedaris from Strangers with Candy, BoJack Horseman, and Jon Favreau’s own Elf.
4 Timothy Olyphant As Cobb Vanth
When Mando arrives on Tatooine in “Chapter 9: The Marshal,” the titular lawman is revealed to be Cobb Vanth, a fan favorite from the Expanded Universe, wearing Boba Fett’s recovered armor.
In his live-action debut, Vanth was played by Timothy Olyphant, who previously played a U.S. Marshal in FX’s Justified. Olyphant’s performance was typically charismatic, and fans are eager for the character to return in season 3 (or in one of the show’s upcoming spin-offs).
3 Taika Waititi As IG-11
In the pilot episode of The Mandalorian, droid bounty hunter IG-11, voiced by Taika Waititi, tries to kill the Child. However, later in the season, IG-11 is redeemed as it’s revealed that Kuiil found him and reprogrammed him to be a nursing droid.
So, after almost killing Grogu, he instead saves him from the Scout Troopers that have kidnapped him. Waititi’s signature deadpan line delivery was perfect for a droid character.
2 Bill Burr As Migs Mayfeld
So far, Bill Burr has appeared in two Mandalorian episodes as ex-Imperial marksman Migs Mayfeld. In his first appearance, “Chapter 6: The Prisoner,” he was characterized as a wisecracking curmudgeon akin to Burr’s own comedic persona.
But in his season 2 appearance, “Chapter 15: The Believer,” Burr added all kinds of new depth to the character as infiltrating an Imperial refinery and bumping into his old commanding officer forced him to confront the darkest parts of his past.
1 Mark Hamill As Luke Skywalker
The season 2 finale of The Mandalorian brought the surprise appearance of a digitally de-aged Luke Skywalker, played by Mark Hamill himself. As soon as an X-wing showed up on Moff Gideon’s ship, Star Wars fans knew who was piloting it.
After massacring the Dark Troopers, Luke arrives on the bridge and invites Grogu to finish his Jedi training. This Luke was more in line with the familiar hero from the original trilogy than his characterization in the sequels.
