The Morning Show Full Trailer: Apple TV+ Shows Off Its Star-Studded New Series

The full trailer for the Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon Apple TV+ series, The Morning Show, reveals more of what the series will be about.

Apple delivers the full trailer for its upcoming drama The Morning Show, giving a full look at what audiences can expect. The star-studded series features an impressive cast built around Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, and Steve Carell, but also features the likes of Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, Nestor Carbonell, Karen Pittman, Bel Powley, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Desean K. Terry, Jack Davenport and Janina Gavankar. Additionally, the series is written by Kerry Ehrin and directed by Mimi Leder (The Leftovers).

Apple has technically been in the original TV content game for quite some time now, but until recently it seemed as though the tech giant was limiting its output to press releases only. That all changed earlier this year at WWDC 2019, when Apple finally showed off its streaming TV service Apple TV+, offering a first look at not only The Morning Show, but also For All Mankind and the apparently very expensive Jason Momoa-starring epic, See.

While the two genre series are certainly eye-catching, it would seem The Morning Show is the apple of, well, Apple’s eye. That makes sense considering it is executive produced by Aniston and Witherspoon, and it aims to make dramatic (perhaps earnest) use of their acting talents. Moreover, the new trailer goes into greater details as to what the series is actually about, as it seems to be following a scandal involving Carell’s character, one that feels reminiscent of either Brian Williams or (hopefully not) Matt Lauer. As mentioned above, the trailer plays very earnestly, but there are some moments that suggest earnestness won’t be all the series has to offer. For one, Crudup delivers a particularly cynical line about America’s fascination with watching its celebrities fall apart. Additionally, it seems as though Apple is addressing rumors about certain mandates regarding its TV content by cutting just before someone literally calls “bullsh*t.” Whether that was deliberate or not remains to be seen, but it would seem as though The Morning Show could be an early hit for Apple TV+.
