WARNING: The following interview contains spoilers for the Power Rangers: Beast Morphers finale, “Evox Unleashed,” which aired Dec. 12.

The latest installment of the Power Rangers franchise, Beast Morphers, has now reached its series finale. In the episode, titled “Evox Unleashed,” the team must take on an incredibly powerful Evox so as save the world from evil and destruction.

In advance of the finale, CBR talked with Rorrie Travis (Red Ranger), Jacqueline Scislowski (Yellow Ranger), Jasmeet Baduwalia (Blue Ranger) and Abraham Rodriguez (Gold Ranger) about the action-packed finale, how it felt performing extremely emotional moments, and their legacy as Rangers.

CBR: What was it like recording a musical episode?

Abraham Rodriguez: I think it was the most fun that we had on any episode and just really a big highlight of the entire experience. We all worked super hard. We came in on our days off to rehearse the musical number. It was really intense. There was a month of rehearsals and then it took an entire 14 hour day of filming to get just that musical number done. It was a lot of hard work. But again, it was so much fun, really a dream come true. I think for all of us that it was just something so different that hasn’t been done before on our season, but also just in Power Rangers in general. So it was really fun to just do something out of the norm. It was a whole new type of acting and episode. I think looking back that’s like all of our favorite memories.

Jacqueline Scislowski: It definitely had been the first time in Ranger history there was a musical. I think that was what made us super excited. We had all said that we wanted this to be the best season ever. So this definitely gave us that opportunity to be different and, and do something sort of really special. That’s just for our season so far.

Jasmeet Baduwalia: This is why Beast Morphers is the best season, right? The musical is one of those episodes that just came out of nowhere. You know, it brought us together. They were teaching me how to dance. We’re all teaching each other, going over to each other’s places. We were making sure that this episode is the one that stands out from our season. It’s going to go down in history. That’s all thanks to our executive producers,

Rorrie Travis: I think nobody had an idea that we were going to do a musical but everybody showed out. Abraham did an amazing job! Jackie and I were able to come up with choreography ourselves. It wasn’t able to be shown though. So there is a blooper somewhere in there. But it was amazing filming that entire episode.

How do you feel now after recording the finale versus how you first felt when you found out you were becoming a Power Ranger?

Baduwalia: When we were revealed at the Power Morphicon, we had so many emotions. As soon as you step out there, we know our whole lives are going to change. We’re going to become part of this amazing, huge legacy that’s been around all of the Rangers. All of us. You know this is older than all of us. With the finale, we know it’s been coming. It’s a bittersweet end. But we know that we did everything that we could. We put blood, sweat, tears and love into it. We did the best possible job that all of us could do.

Scislowski: I think it’s crazy because it just flies by. You feel like it’s gonna be years and years. till you get to see the episodes. We’ve had behind the scenes videos on our phones for two years now. It’s just like anticipating and you forget things until you go through your camera roll and you’re like, Oh my gosh, this is two years ago now. I’m finally just now getting to post it. Even just all the way back to Power Morphicon., it didn’t feel real. It didn’t feel real until we were there the first day of filming and they said action. Everything was still constantly soaking in. So now being at the finale episode is just like, Where did the time go?

It’s definitely sweet. But it’s also like such a rewarding feeling to see all of our hard work and journey kind of finally come to this great closing in seeing ourselves grow through the whole process.

With Power Rangers being a much beloved and long-running franchise, how does it feel knowing that you’ve kind of become a part of this forever?

Travis: It was amazing.

Scislowski: Period.

Rodriguez: It’s so cool to be heroes that kids watch on TV and that so many generations have grown up watching. To be a part of that forever is something I think is so special. It’s not every job that is part of a big franchise like this so it really is unique. I think for that reason it’ll always hold a really special place in all of our hearts even years down the line when we do many other different roles. This job is so different and so unique. I think it’s so special.

Baduwalia: I think just getting our own action figures at this young into our career, that’s a huge accomplishment. Basically, like he was saying, we are the heroes for kids. We’re basically like the Avengers in a sense to where kids watch us and they’re like “Oh I want to be them.” I know how when I watch the Avengers, I’m like, I want to be like the Hulk or Iron Man. They look at us like “I want to be the Power Rangers.” We grew up wanting to be a Power Ranger too. Jumping around, getting hurt, and all of that. So now becoming a Power Ranger and being part of this legacy that has been around for so long… It’s indescribable.

Jacqueline, was it emotional to film the scene where Zoey reveals she’s a ranger to her mother?

Scislowski: Oh my gosh, I was so excited to film that! It was like a little glimpse into some drama. Because it’s always kind of positive and action-packed but with this, we got to have some tears and real emotion. It was definitely such a great moment. I loved it for Zoey. You see throughout the whole two seasons that she has such a great relationship with her mom, but it’s such a huge secret and accomplishment that she has to hide from her. So to finally be able to see Muriel’s pride in her daughter is great. Her mother sees she is not only doing amazing in the laundry, but she’s also a superhero. So I definitely loved being able to play that out and see that on screen.

CBR: How did it feel to finally destroy Evox and really triumph over evil in the end?

Travis: I felt good. I mean, as you can see, in the episode that all of our characters had a very interesting dynamic, in the end, trying to close out the episode. It was very interesting to see Zoey and Nate’s dynamic at the end. Even though the relationship aspect was played on in a different way. I think Jackie and Abraham very brilliantly showcase those little subtle nuances of their love. Even Jazz, in the last episode, you have this little thing with Liana. I always said, you know, Devin didn’t have a relationship as well.

Rodriguez: I think it’s also really special. I love the way that they really decided what was going to be what finally defeated Evox was human DNA and all of us coming together. They showed that our biggest strength is being humans. I thought that was really nice and special the way that they tied that into ultimately defeating him.

With humanity being a part of the way you defeated evil, What do you think that says thematically about the Rangers being more powerful as people than they are their powers?

Rodriguez: I think it’s cool that they showed us all coming together and together defeating him as you know, humans, instead of us individually, trying to defeat him with our weapons or our Megazord or all the different types of technology that we’ve created to try to defeat him. I think that’s what we show throughout the entire series. In the end to be able to put all of that aside and then just all come together and be what actually finally destroys him is us just coming together as a team and putting all of our human DNA together to defeat him.

Scislowski: I definitely feel like it really tied the very first episode right back to the finale. We all started as just regular people kind of like underdogs, and just seemingly like not the ones you would expect to become Rangers. So I think at the end of it to definitely finish it off with the reason that we succeeded was just us and our friendship and humanity is special. I think it really just kind of also portrays to everybody watching it’s not about the crazy gadgets, it’s not about getting bitten by a radioactive spider or anything like that. It’s really just your heart, soul, your dedication, your friendship, and love that kind of trumps all of that kind of fancy-schmancy stuff. I think that gives everybody watching some hope that they can also be a Power Ranger.

Baduwalia: I was gonna say that at the end of the day, the powers of the Power Rangers is the people that become the Power Rangers, their own human values, what they stand for, standing for fighting evil, and not letting, for example, like not letting kids get bullied. Saying that anyone can be a Ranger with the right intentions with the right heart is what it’s about. It was about bringing this all together because none of us could have defeated Evox by ourselves but we all teamed up not as Power Rangers, but as Robbie, Zoey, Nate and Devin. We all had different qualities that we brought together. The powers don’t define the Power Rangers, it’s the people that become the Power Rangers that define them.

Rorrie, you gave a pretty rousing battle speech. How did you prep yourself to deliver that kind of “the Rangers will fight till the end” type talk?

Travis: Well, I felt like I was in Lord of the Rings or something like that. This was my calling of the arms. But it felt good. That’s what it felt like you know, “For Steele!” or..something like that ya know? I just wanted to take my time. We did multiple takes of it. Just to make sure we got whatever just fit for that time. But it was a good homage to Steele. Because this was the final moment for him. This was it for all of us in that moment. We thought Steele was a goner. I just wanted to kind of let it be something that wasn’t kind of rushed by I wanted to take my time with each one of the lines, make it serious. Let my heart be known. I think it played well across on the screen. So I’m happy with the performance.

It’s not often that a team loses a member. Was that an emotional scene for everyone to film?

Rodriguez: It was maybe one of our most intense scenes. Just a whole set and the tugging back and forth, the fighting, and I think it was a really high stakes emotion.

Travis: Abraham made it real. You made it, you definitely did.

Scislowski: Yeah definitely watching Abraham react to like his brother dying, essentially, that was like…I lost him for a moment. Like, Oh, there you go.

Rodriguez: It was also really fun, as intense as it was, I think it was so much fun because it isn’t something we get to do all the time. And it’s not a normal typical scene in our series. So getting to play that I think was super fun for all of us. I mean, I think we all love the drama and the high stakes of the intense scenes. It was a great time.

We do get a time jump at the end, where we see what happens to your Rangers a bit into the future. Was it exciting to see kind of like where you go?

Travis: When we did the table read for the episodes, we looked at everything, heard, and just to see all of our reactions to all of the different things that were happening for all of our characters. It was crazy. I mean, Devin became the commander. Even with the walk down, you can feel my sense of pride like yes, this is it. He came from nothing in a sense, just the mere gamer who didn’t care and had no regard for authority whatsoever. To becoming the commander of this institution, it was this crazy.

If you were asked to return down the line for an appearance. Would you?

Baduwalia: Yeah! We’re trying to be back for Dino Fury. Let’s go!

Scislowski: I always have a backpack just on standby. So I’m ready at any second to go.

Baduwalia: We all bought our flights and we’re just keep changing it from month to month. So we’d don’t have to pay for a flight.

Travis: New Zealand was so fun, the people were so cool. Definitely gotta go.

Baduwalia: The crew. The crew made it a family.

Rodriguez: I think New Zealand itself, aside from the series, I think New Zealand is what made the experience what it was. It was a huge part of why this experience was so much fun and so special and just so unique because again, it’s not every day that you film in New Zealand for something. So all of our adventures and all our fun off of set was just so memorable. I think what really made this experience what it is.
