Sonja Morgan joined the cast of The Real Housewives of New York in Season 3 and immediately made a splash. Over the years, the blonde bombshell has gone from the glamorous and humorous Lady Morgan to one of the wackiest cast members in Real Housewives history. Sonja has always been a fan favorite on RHONY, due in large part to her lighthearted personality, charming naivety, and willingness to be the butt of the joke.

Although she’s taken part in many conflicts, fans have often had the usually well-meaning businesswoman’s back. But Sonja also had her fair share of mishaps on the long-running reality show, from disrespecting a Housewife who was helping her with a product launch to outright patronizing her castmates.

10 Supported: Stealing The Show At The Big Apple Circus

One of Sonja’s most legendary moments from Season 11 took place when Tinsley landed a special role in a performance at the Big Apple Circus, and Sonja was later invited onstage as a guest. Fans were pleasantly surprised that Sonja went into the ring and gave it her all, performing multiple somersaults and participating in an extended skit that culminated in her spitting water into her co-star’s face.

It wasn’t the first time in the series Sonja upstaged a fellow Housewife, considering her infamous wardrobe malfunction at Luann’s cabaret in Season 10.

9 Too Far: Not Letting Simon Speak At The Marriage March

One of Season 4’s most perplexing fights began when Sonja was asked to be the Grand Marshal at the Marriage Equality of New York parade. Although Simon had already been invited to speak at the event, it was revealed that Sonja had requested to be the only speaker, and she refused to permit Simon to speak even when asked.

This snub was part of a pattern of Sonja making the day entirely about herself. Seeing Sonja say “this is my day” time and time again makes for one of her most cringe-worthy moments, and Alex was right to point out that Sonja was distracting from the cause.

8 Supported: Tom Denying Their Relationship

One of Luann’s major arcs after her divorce from the Count concerned her relationship with Tom D’Agostino, a bachelor who had a history with not one but two additional housewives. While he and Ramona agreed they’d been out on a couple of dates and it had gone nowhere, he and Sonja had differing interpretations of their prior relationship.

While Sonja claimed they’d casually dated or been “friends with benefits” over the years, Tom denied this and claimed they’d been out to dinner only once. Sonja was clearly hurt by Tom’s disavowal, but particularly after Tom’s affair was exposed, fans sensed that Sonja had been telling the truth all along.

7 Too Far: Disrespecting Heather At The Toaster Oven Photoshoot

The launch of Sonja’s toaster oven in Season 5 was one of the Housewife’s silliest – albeit most iconic – plotlines. New Housewife Heather offered her services as a marketing professional to Sonja, but would later regret the generous move.

After multiple difficult meetings concerning logo generation for the toaster oven, Heather arranged a photo shoot. Although she hired a model and staff and acquired a product for the shoot, Sonja waltzed in an hour late. She was clearly difficult to work with and dismissive of Heather’s professional opinion. To make matters worse, she even had the gall to downplay Heather’s contributions after the fact.

6 Supported: Her Caburlesque

RHONY fans know that Sonja loves to be the center of attention, whether at a party or on an actual stage. In Season 6, fans saw her performance skills on display for the first time as she geared up for a “Caburlesque” performance in the Hamptons.

The routine itself was one of Sonja’s most iconic moments on the series, as well as one of the Housewife’s funniest. While some audience members (like Aviva’s friend Amanda) didn’t think much of the show, it was clear that Sonja was loving herself and it was great fun to watch. The Caburlesque also foreshadowed her repeat appearances in Luann’s cabaret several seasons later.

5 Too Far: Telling Cindy There Was A Pecking Order

Although she had only been a cast member for a year after joining RHONY in Season 3, Sonja Morgan had some choice words for the newest Housewife Cindy Barshop at the beginning of Season 4. Cindy always seemed a bit too normal for the Housewives’ antics, and this was proven when Sonja invited Cindy over for tea to instruct her of the “pecking order” operating in the group.

With Ramona at the top of the heap according to Sonja, it was disrespectful for Cindy not to have Ramona’s preferred drink – infamously, pinot grigio – at her party in Quogue. It was a ridiculous and condescending conversation, with Sonja swapping her usual effervescence for a haughty attitude.

4 Supported: Ramona Telling Her To Lose Weight

Sonja and Ramona seem to have been friends forever, and at their best, they make an effervescent duo that livens up any situation with girlish and irreverent charm. That being said, the pair also have a history of squabbling and hurting each other’s feelings, and it was no different in Season 12.

When Leah took the Housewives to a Russian bathhouse, Ramona told Sonja she should lose 10 pounds, and Sonja was clearly hurt and offended by Ramona’s fat-shaming. But Sonja diplomatically countered that she’s beautiful at any size, and fans had her back.

3 Too Far: Hiring Unpaid Interns

One of Sonja’s recurring storylines on the show centers on a revolving cast of interns that Sonja hires to do all kinds of tasks for her business and around her house. Although many of her fellow Housewives question Sonja’s need for so many interns, she argues that their contributions are sorely needed.

It’s far from a good look, then, for her to have offered the majority of her young staff course credit and no financial compensation. Of course, the interns always took the positions willingly, but these were clearly quite demanding. A paid internship program would have been a much more fair arrangement.

2 Supported: Ramona Uninviting Her From Her Birthday Lunch

In Season 11, Sonja was hurt that Ramona, despite being one of her best friends, failed to invite her to a lavish birthday celebration. Ramona claimed she had no control over the guestlist for the lunch and that it was being attended by a group of friends who aren’t in Sonja’s circle. Yet, both Sonja and Dorinda were friends with the hostess organizing the event for Ramona.

Footage later revealed that the hostess had asked Ramona if she should invite Sonja, and Ramona said not to. It was a shocking moment as Ramona appeared to devalue her years-long friendship with Sonja and a time when Sonja had fans’ unanimous support.

1 Too Far: Creating Tipsy Girl

The Housewives are known for their absurd business ventures, and the ladies of RHONY are no exception. Sonja certainly has a history of kooky product launches, but the one that attracted the most ire over the course of the series was Tipsy Girl, a line of sparkling rosé.

When Skinnygirl founder Bethenny found out about the alleged “copycat brand,” she ripped into Sonja at her office and told the shocked businesswoman she wanted nothing to do with her. Bethenny was right to feel insulted by the inexplicable venture, but fortunately for Sonja, the pair were later able to reconcile.
