The Real Housewives of New York is one of the longest-running Housewives franchises on Bravo. With OGs like Ramona Singer and Luann de Lesseps on its roster after 12 seasons, there are endless amounts of laughs and drama. The cool thing about RHONY is that the women really are friends. When they’re not filming, they’re still hanging out and forming close bonds.
However, not every new housewife made the cut. Over the years, RHONY has had 16 housewives but only four (Luann, Sonja, Leah, and Ramona) remain as Bravo finds new leading ladies. But with the start of every new season brings fans to reminisce about former housewives.
12 Cindy Barshop
Cindy Barshop was on season four of RHONY and that’s the last fans saw her. In fact, fans often forget about Cindy. Aside from her revolutionary waxing business, she didn’t bring anything to the table.
She’s so forgettable that even OG Ramona Singer referred to her as “nobody.” Due to bringing nothing to the table, Bravo fired her after her first season.
11 Jules Wainstein
Jules Wainstein was another housewife who only lasted one season. Starring in season eight, Jules was friends with Dorinda before being introduced to the rest of the group. As a New York socialite, Jules was well-connected but her issues surrounding an eating disorder and a rocky relationship with her husband outshined her friendships with the girls.
She got along well with Carole but butted heads with Bethenny right away. By the time season nine rolled around, it was assumed Jules was too “normal” to be on a reality TV show.
10 Aviva Drescher
Aviva Drescher was apart of RHONY for seasons five and six. Sadly, the only thing fans can remember is the epic time she threw her prosthetic leg at the dinner party. She was incredibly educated and philanthropic but clashed with many of the housewives.
In season five she battled with Ramona and Sonja but enjoyed being with Carole. Things between Aviva and Carole changed by season six when they argued over ghostwriting. Her drama with Carole wasn’t enough to keep her around though. Bravo ended up firing her.
9 Kelly Killoren Bensimon
Kelly Bensimon’s most memorable moments were from “Scary Island.” She was so unhinged and unstable that viewers couldn’t look away. Bensimon lasted for three seasons but the only thing fans can remember about her was seeing her jogging in the middle of traffic in downtown Manhattan.
As crazy as Kelly was, fans enjoyed watching the mess she created herself. And while it was rumored that Kelly was fired from Bravo, she claims she walked away from the network because it was a better business decision.
8 Kristen Taekman
Kristen Taekman was a stunning, former supermodel and mother of two. Due to her interest in fashion, she could have been close with newbie Leah McSweeney if she stayed on the series. Taekman was on for two seasons and got into epic altercations with Ramona Singer during her time.
Fans think Kristen had what it took to become a great housewife but her “dumb blonde” bit held her back. She ended up leaving the series to focus on her family, which was a good idea… Not too long after, Taekman’s husband was involved in the Ashley Maddison scandal.
7 Carole Radziwill
Carole Radziwill was an iconic housewife due to her background as a journalist and being connected to the Kennedy family. Her friendship with Bethenny Frankel was also fun for viewers to watch. She was the new Jill! Carole was on the series for five seasons before leaving in season 10.
Sadly, after the demise of her friendship with Bethenny, Carole left the series. She added depth to the cast and was a cool and collected member out of everyone but she didn’t have the star power to take over a season (like Bethenny and Ramonda do).
6 Alex McCord
Alex McCord was so odd that it was impossible to look away from her. Her relationship with her Australian husband Simon was one for the books.
They met on a dating website and were raising their two children in some of the best schools New York had to offer. Fans will forever remember her model walk (and face) when being photographed on a girls-only vacation and getting in an argument with Luann over dinner in Morroco.
5 Jill Zarin
Jill Zarin was a main cast member for four seasons and was best friends with Bethenny. She was also incredibly close to Ramona and Luann as well. Fans got an inside look at her fabulous life with her husband and daughter.
Sadly, after a demise in her friendship with Bethenny, Jill parted ways with the show. She has come back a few times since then to events held by the ladies, which get fans’ hopes up every time. Jill was refreshingly raw and honest and was a fun part of the cast.
4 Tinsley Mortimer
Tinsley Mortimer deserves some major credit for hanging on to the series as long as she did. As one of the youngest cast members, she battled with Sonja and Dorinda the most when it came to her family’s wealth.
Her on-and-off relationship with Scott was also a massive storyline in the series and the reason why she walked away from the show. And while she was a punching bag for most of her time on the show, she held her ground and was a fan favorite.
3 Heather Thomson
Heather Thomson (Holla!) was such a fun part of the show when she was on from season five to season seven.
She was like Bethenny in the sense that she spoke her mind and had her own company. She also has her own house in the Berkshires, which could rival Dorinda’s. Heather is so loved that she’s set to be a guest on RHONY’s newest season. Being able to watch her and Leah together is going to be iconic television.
2 Dorinda Medley
Along with Tinsley, Dorinda is the most recent housewife to leave RHONY. After spending six years entertaining viewers from her Berkshires house and wild one-liners, she’s walking away a new woman. Dorinda has been accused of having a drinking problem for years and has gotten into fights with every single one of the housewives.
And yet, she’s still one of the fans’ favorite housewives. Even though she left the series, it looks like she still hanging out with the ladies of RHONY, giving fans hope she’ll one day be back.
1 Bethenny Frankel
Does it get better than Bethenny Frankel? She was an OG housewife who started out as one of the least wealthy housewives but turned her ideas into a multi-million dollar brand and is now one of the wealthiest housewives to-date.
Before her departure in season 11, fans saw the ups and downs of her love life, business ventures, and relationships with the ladies. And although Bethenny claims she won’t come back to RHONY, fans are still hoping for a change of heart.
