The Sims 4 Summer Roadmap Teases New Expansion Updates & More

Publisher Electronic Arts and developer Maxis shared a summer roadmap for The Sims 4, previewing the expansion and updates that fans can expect to experience over the next handful of months. Since the game’s release nearly seven years ago, The Sims 4 has continuously received updates big and small to improve upon the core experience.

Fans were treated to well over a dozen free in-game items earlier in the year in celebration of The Sims franchise’s 21st anniversary. EA and Maxis partnered with nine different community members on the effort, each of whom played a part in creating the various items. The freebies themselves included additional face customization options, a wider variety of accessories, and new clothing for toddlers. It’s clear the development crew behind The Sims 4 has even bigger plans for the summer months ahead in terms of fresh content releases.

Today, EA and Maxis shared a look at the Summer of Sims roadmap, which offers players a preview of the content coming to The Sims 4 throughout the months of May, June, and July. A new Expansion Pack will allow players and their Sims to bond with nature. In the next Game pack, users will have the option to choose a different career path. Fans can expect to “rock out” at a virtual block party during The Sims 4’s big summer event, as well. And three waves of Base Game updates are also on the horizon. None of these content releases have due dates as of yet. A graphic for the Summer of Sims roadmap appears below:

Evidently, the development crew at Maxis has big summer plans in place for fans of The Sims 4, which is fascinating given the game’s age. Maxis’ ongoing support for the title is nothing short of impressive, but fans are, of course, eager for something else as well – The Sims 5.

The brand’s developer and publisher remain silent on the matter; however, EA CEO Andrew Wilson has teased that “social interactions and competition” could play a part in a future Sims release. But when said release may see the light of day seems an ongoing mystery. Last year, an NME report claimed The Sims 5 had just entered the “conceptual phase” of production. Should the report prove true, fans may have a much longer wait ahead of them.
