The Voice Gwen Stefani Says Wedding Was One of Her Greatest Moments

The Voice coach Gwen Stefani said in a new interview that her wedding with Blake Shelton was one of the “greatest moments” of her life. The country music singer has been a coach on the singing competition series ever since it launched in 2011, alongside Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera and CeeLo Green. Many celebrities and come and gone from those big red chairs over the years, but Shelton has been a mainstay through it all. He has won more seasons of The Voice than any other coach, with his eighth win coming during the show’s 10th anniversary, season 20, which aired this year. While Stefani doesn’t have the track record that her now-husband has, she did finally earn a win in season 19 with Carter Rubin.

Stefani and Shelton first met on the set of The Voice in 2014 when the former joined the show as a coach. Their relationship began in 2015 during the pop singer’s second season on the hit singing competition series. The couple got engaged in the fall of 2020. Their wedding was held over the Fourth of July weekend this summer. Leading up to the big day, speculation began over a possibly imminent wedding since public records showed that the Voice couple applied for a marriage license, which was only valid for 10 days, and the holiday landed within that timeframe. They ended up getting married on Shelton’s Oklahoma ranch on July 3, with a small ceremony officiated by The Voice host Carson Daly.

Now that the big day has come and gone, Stefani is opening up about her wedding. During an interview on the Tell Me About It With Jade Iovine podcast, she said, “It was literally one of the greatest moment of my life, obviously. It was beyond what I thought it was gonna be,” adding that she’s currently feeling “total honeymoon vibes.” She went on to say that she’s in a “place of peace” right now. Her “spiritual journey” helped get her to that mindset.

In the same interview, Stefani talked about her new husband and Voice coach, describing him as a what-you-see-is-what-you-get type of person. He’s “the same guy you see no matter who he’s with, what he’s doing,” according to his wife. In other words, the version of Shelton fans see on The Voice is the same Shelton she sees at home. She called him “a good guy. He’s very real and consistent and genuine. It’s what is so attractive and why people love him so much.”

As mentioned, Shelton has been on The Voice since the very beginning. Despite having a country music career well before the singing competition series made its debut, a lot of people around the United States came to know and love him from The Voice. Even though it’s a music show, the focus is on the celebrity coaches and their personalities the vast majority of the time. What viewers see of Shelton on The Voice every week could easily be a caricature or exaggeration of his own personality. So fans can be rest assured that, according to Stefani, he’s not putting on a show; he’s showing his true self to millions of people season after season. And considering that both of them have been married before, along with the ups and downs they’ve been through in their past relationships, it’s reassuring to know that Stefani is in a “place of peace” right now.
