The Voice Ranking The Coaches From Most Winners To Fewest

NBC’s hit singing competition The Voice is celebrating its 10th anniversary and 20th season in 2021. In those twenty seasons, there have been fourteen different coaches. Blake Shelton has the distinction of being the only coach to have appeared on every season. He has also had the most winning contestants on his team, a fact that he is quick to bring up when attempting to woo contestants away from other coaches during the blind auditions. But where do all the other coaches rank?

Season 20 of The Voice features coaches Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, and Nick Jonas. Jonas is replacing season 19’s winning coach, Gwen Stefani. The Jonas Brothers band member turned solo artist and actor is hoping this will be the season he gets his first win. He is the only coach on season 20 to have never had a win. This is only his second season, having appeared (and lost) on season 18. If he does get a win this season, he will be one of only four coaches to have won in two seasons.

Over twenty seasons, Blake Shelton has coached seven winners. That gives him a 35% success rate. Behind him, the next coach with the most wins under her belt is Kelly Clarkson. In just seven seasons, she has already had three winners. That gives her an almost 43% success rate. That could mean she will overtake Shelton’s crown in a few more seasons. The only other coach to have had as many wins is Adam Levine, who had three wins over sixteen seasons, including winning the first-ever season. Shelton, Clarkson, and Levine are the only coaches to have had multiple wins.

John Legend has only had a single win, but it was during his first appearance on season 16. Season 20 marks his fifth appearance and he is hoping to take the crown again. Usher has appeared in two seasons, winning during his second appearance. Alicia Keys and Pharrell Williams both had their only wins during their second seasons, though Keys did three total seasons and Williams did four. Gwen Stefani took home her first win on season 19, her fifth season on the show. Original coach, Christina Aguilera had one win over her six seasons.

None of the other coaches who have appeared on the show ever had even a single win. Jennifer Hudson, Shakira, and Miley Cyrus have all been coaches on two seasons and have yet to take home a win. Nick Jonas may join their ranks if he doesn’t take home his first win on season 20, his second season. Original coach CeeLo Green was on four seasons without ever having a win.

With two seasons every year, celebrity coaches have many opportunities to compete and possibly increase their ranking. While Blake Shelton currently has the clear lead, Kelly Clarkson is amassing wins at a quick pace, so she has the chance to overtake him. Adam Levine’s disinterest in returning means he could lose his current third-place ranking to someone else. Even after 20 seasons of the show, all the coaches still seem intent on picking and coaching the winning singer.
