The Saviors and Rick’s Crew are filled with ambiguous personalities. How would these Walking Dead’s characters be sorted at Harry Potter’s Hogwarts?

AMC’s The Walking Dead has a large ensemble cast of compelling, intricate characters, that are in a constant state of evolution throughout the series. In The Walking Dead, there is no clear “good” or “bad” person, rather countless shades of gray and flip-flopping loyalties.

After all, loyalty only goes so far when the options come down to being torn apart by a ravenous zombie or swearing allegiance to the new guy in charge. Let’s break down the character traits of five members of Rick’s Crew and five of the Saviors to see how they would be sorted into their Hogwarts Houses.

10 The Saviors: Negan (Slytherin)

Negan is one of the most charismatic big-bads in The Walking Dead history, and fans either love to hate him or hate to love him. Whether he’s the cruel but effective leader of the Saviors or stuck in Alexandria’s jail cell, Negan’s ambition knows no bounds.

Negan is a smooth talker whose bite is worse than his snarky bark. Negan sees people as resources, and though he isn’t afraid to kill to make a point, he prefers to lead with a combination of fear and results.

9 Rick’s Crew: Daryl (Gryffindor)

Daryl and Rick have had their ups and downs over the years, but Daryl makes it clear whose side he’s on and what he fights for in the end. And boy, can this man fight. Daryl’s loyalty and willingness to ride head-on into battle on his motorcycle – whether it’s against the Walkers or a rival group – makes him stand out from some of the less heroic characters.

Daryl is more than skilled with his trusty crossbow and is always ready to stand up for those that can’t stand up for themselves.

8 The Saviors: Eugene (Hufflepuff)

Hufflepuff is the house for those who have no clear placement. Helga Hufflepuff herself said that she will “take all the rest.” The Walking Dead’s mullet-wearing brainiac is a hard-working, socially-awkward type that hates confrontation.

Eugene is a genius that thinks quickly on his feet, but his other most defining trait is his dedication to self-preservation, made clear when he swears his loyalty to Negan with no prompting. He will occasionally take risks, but in more calculated ways that leave him with an escape plan.

7 Rick’s Crew: Carol (Ravenclaw)

Carol is a character that could be easily at home in either Slytherin or Ravenclaw. She started out the series as a timid, abused housewife, but she grew into a tough but good-hearted survivor.

Carol is quick-witted and opinionated. She is unafraid to tell Rick and anybody else exactly what she thinks and why she’s right. She is fiercely independent and perfectly able to live by herself with her own knowledge and survival skills but also knows when it’s wise to team up.

6 The Saviors: Simon (Slytherin)

Not all Slytherins are bad guys, and not all bad guys are Slytherins, but Simon would give the rest of the house a bad name. Simon is Negan’s sadistic, power-hungry, second in command for a time.

Simon plays the role of a loyal lapdog, but plots behind Negan’s back to take control of the Saviors. Simon can be fairly clever and strategic with both his words and his plans, but his downfall is that he thinks that he’s way smarter and tougher than he actually is.

5 Rick’s Crew: Michonne (Gryffindor)

Michonne is a zombie killing warrior and makes quite the entrance as a sword-wielding badass, with two pet Walkers in tow. That in itself takes the traits of “daring” and “brave” a little further than expected.

Though she starts out as emotionally closed off and quiet about her past, it becomes clear that Michonne feels deeply and has so much love to give. She shows this repeatedly by risking her own safety to protect others, especially Carl and Judith.

4 The Saviors: Dr. Emmett Carson (Ravenclaw)

Emmett is one of the two Dr. Carsons in the show, and he is also the unlucky brother that ended up at the Sanctuary serving the Saviors. Dr. Carson is an educated, intelligent, and skilled doctor. Once he’s taken by the Saviors, he learns his place quickly and does what he must to survive, which is to keep his mouth shut and do what he’s told.

Emmett doesn’t push against authority and simply tends to the people, be it run of the mill injuries or the occasional melted face inflicted by Negan’s iron.

3 Rick’s Crew: Beth (Hufflepuff)

Beth Greene is as sweet-hearted as she is sweet-faced. Even in the midst of violence and tragedy, Beth has a unique innocence about her and is able to shine light in a dark world, whether it’s with a gentle touch or with a soothing song.

Beth would rather make a friend than an enemy. She is not naive about the situation that she is in, and she has her own struggles, but it’s clear that she tries to cope in this new world with empathy and kindness.

2 The Saviors: Dwight (Gryffindor)

Dwight is Negan’s right-hand man at the Sanctuary, and it takes a brave man to keep on going after all that he has been through. Between Negan “marrying” Dwight’s wife, Sherry, and burning off half of his face with a hot iron, this show has put Dwight through the wringer.

Dwight stays on Negan’s good side for as long as possible in order to protect Sherry, despite desperately wanting to do something reckless. Once she escapes the sanctuary, Dwight is quick to betray the Saviors to help Rick.

1 Rick’s Crew: Rosita (Slytherin)

Rosita Espinosa is one tough cookie, and an apocalypse level “jack of all trades.” Her ambition and need for self-preservation caused her to leave almost every relationship she’s been in with a new area of expertise, from knot tying to marksmen skills.

Rosita only added more to the list when the world started to end. Rosita is a fearless fighter, but she can come off as cold and lacking empathy until she lets someone get close to her.
