Will Lifetime’s unique makeover series This Time Next Year return for season 2 or has it come to an end? This Time Next Year is a concept that originated from the UK, with former Big Brother host Davina McCall fronting the show. The format sees McCall speak with a range of people with a specific goal in mind, which could range from weight loss, starting a new career, learning how to walk again and many other personal milestones. The unique aspect of the series is that it’s shot over a year, so after someone walks away to “start” their challenge, they then re-emerge mere moments later through another door revealing their transformation and then talking about how their lives have changed.

This Time Next Year made for nice, feelgood entertainment and ran for three seasons. There was also an Australian version of the show fronted by Karl Stefanovic, while the This Time Next Year host appointed for the Lifetime version was Cat Deeley (So You Think You Can Dance?). It was touted as one of the most promising new shows on Lifetime when it debuted back in 2018, where it ran for six episodes.

This Time Next Year Season 2 Updates Will The Lifetime Series Be Renewed

Following This Time Next Year finishing its initial six episodes, there’s been little to no sign of it being renewed for a second season. The format itself seems to have fallen out of favor, with both the UK and Australian versions having both come to an end back in 2019. It’s worth noting that Lifetime hasn’t officially canceled This Time Next Year, but nothing has been heard about a second season since it finished three years ago, which isn’t an encouraging sign.

This Time Next Year Season 2 Is Unlikely

With a lack of any movement on This Time Next Year season 2, it’s looking doubtful the series will be revived in the future. The COVID-19 pandemic would no doubt make filming over the course of a year tricky in the current climate, and it appears the series didn’t really connect with viewers either. There’s a host of other popular makeover shows out there too, so while another season isn’t an impossibility, it looks like Lifetime isn’t currently interested in producing one.
