Thor and Hulk Start Their Biggest Fight Ever In This Week’s Marvel Releases

For their respective 60th anniversaries, writer Donny Cates pits the Hulk and Thor against each other in Hulk vs. Thor: Banner of War Alpha #1.

The strongest Avengers go to war in this week’s releases from Marvel Comics.

Kicking off Thor and Hulk’s latest spat is Hulk vs. Thor: Banner of War Alpha #1. The new event features a crossover between the two ongoing series led by writer Donny Cates, Hulk and Thor, which have taken the characters down new paths. Thor is now the King of Asgard, instilled with the full power granted to the All-Father and once held by his father Odin (who died, his spirit now lingering within the hammer Mjölnir). If that does not sound different enough from the typical status quo for readers, the Hulk has been transformed into a cyborg and traveling other universes as the “Starship Hulk.” So, there’s that. The “Banner of War” crossover event will run for five issues total and arrives in time for the two characters’ 60th anniversaries.

There is more available for Marvel readers this Wednesday though. One of two new Captain America titles, Captain America: Symbol of Truth, is also out this week. Symbol of Truth will focus on Sam Wilson, coinciding with the character’s evolution in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier in 2021. The series spins out of Captain America #0 (now available), and arrives a whole month before Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty, the book starring Steve Rogers.

Other notable releases for this week include the debut of Moon Knight: Black, White, & Blood, a new What If… Miles Morales that turns the hero into a Hulk and more. The full list of releases can be found alphabetically below, covers and solicitations included.
