Electronic Arts is not turning up for E3 this year – well not officially anyway. Other game companies like Disney Interactive and Activision have opted not to show up for the show at all but EA is putting on its own event instead – during which, the publisher is expected to make several announcements.

News and updates are expected for a number of titles that the company has in the works including FIFA 17 and Mass Effect: Andromeda. There will almost certainly be new trailers but now the preview for another of EA’s anticipated titles, Titanfall 2, has been posted online.

The official presentation at EA Play will get underway later today but footage of a pre-recorded show has given a glimpse into the sequel’s offline single-player campaign, something that was lacking in the original. Being restricted to multiplayer prevented the game from living up to expectations, much like Star Wars Battlefront, fans complained about the amount of content that was on offer with the online only gameplay. It’s set to be very different this time around, with a campaign that will explore the universe and lore of Titanfall in depth.

Titanfall 2 E3 Trailer Release Date & Details Revealed

Previous rumors about the game’s release date have been confirmed with this latest information too. It was previously reported that EA CEO Andrew Wilson commented during a financial report meeting that the next Titanfall and Battlefield will release in the next financial quarter, or in other words before the end of 2016. Both Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2 are now indeed set for October releases, with the latter slated for October 28, 2016.

From the new trailer, the story seems the story will focus on the bond between soldier and titan as rifleman Chad Cooper is forced to take over a mech when the original pilot dies in action. The player-controlled human protagonist may be a silent one, however, as the dialogue in the video is between an unknown female character and the mech itself, who expresses its protocols involve protecting the pilot. Here is the official description of the game that accompanied the Titanfall 2 trailer release:

Featuring a crafted single player campaign that explores the unique bond between man and machine, players will step on to The Frontier as a Militia rifleman with aspirations of becoming a Pilot. Stranded behind IMC enemy lines, and against overwhelming odds, you must team up with a veteran Vanguard-class Titan and uphold a mission you were never meant to carry out.

The only thing that will ensure more gamers play Titanfall 2 than the first title apart from the inclusion of a campaign, is the fact that it is no longer a Microsoft exclusive and will also be released on PlayStation 4 as well as PC and Xbox One. After realising that the video had been shared with the masses ahead of the official presentation, EA thankfully to just post the full trailer themselves rather than try and get everyone to take down their uploads, and pretend that they hadn’t seen a thing.

Electronic Arts believes that hosting their own event in EA Play, will allow the company to speak more directly to the fans of their franchises. Gamers will not only be able to watch the press conference at the Los Angeles and London locations but also go hands-on with several titles. After this latest leak and most of EA’s games having been announced for a while, it is yet to be seen if they have any surprises up their sleeve.
