The first look at season 2 of Titans has been released, teasing new hair, new costumes, and the first official glimpse of Deathstroke. Titans was the inaugural series on the DC Universe streaming service, rapidly spawning a Doom Patrol spinoff. Season 1 followed the adventures of Dick Grayson, Kory Anders aka. Starfire, Rachel Roth aka. Raven and Gar Logan aka. Beast Boy, as they joined forces and attempted to unravel the mystery surrounding Rachel. An instant hit – especially on Netflix – the show was quickly renewed.

When last seen, Rachel had been unwittingly manipulated into allowing her demonic father, Trigon, to return to Earth. Though he kept his promise to heal Gar, he secluded Rachel from the rest of her friends via a mystical barrier and made clear his intentions to destroy the world. Dick Grayson was somehow able to push his way through – only to find himself trapped in a hallucination and subsequently succumbing to Trigon’s dark influence. Picking up directly from the cliffhanger, season 2 promises even more things to get fans excited – including Joshua Orpin as Superboy and Drew Van Acker as Garth aka. Aqualad.

One of the biggest draws of season 2, however, was the news that it would introduce the Titans’ infamous nemesis: Deathstroke. Thanks to a new first look trailer, fans can now see the nefarious mercenary in all his costumed glory. Appearing at the end of the trailer, he is suitably shrouded in semi-darkness and accompanied by an ominous declaration of his name. It also promises to be a family affair, with Chelsea T. Zhang cast as Rose Wilson and Chella Man cast as Deathstroke’s son Joseph Wilson. Both are also glimpsed briefly in the trailer. Check it out below:

Deathstroke is set to be played by Esai Morales. The new footage also gives fans their first full look at Iain Glen as Bruce Wayne, walking with Dick Grayson in Wayne Manor. The character of Batman hung over season 1 as little more than a specter but will be a fully established presence in the sophomore outing. Though he’s unlikely to actually suit up in the cape and cowl, the trailer afforded him the first official Titans name-drop. A name Dick Grayson and Rachel Roth (sporting a very different look) can later be seen debating.

Based on the trailer, the show seems to waste no time in showing the team as an already established, cohesive unit – even seemingly confirming the Titans Tower rumors. Curiously, there is nary a mention of the predicament season 1 ended on, already establishing Dick Grayson has fully back to his senses and no sign of Trigon. In terms of Deathstroke, however – judging by the gasp of familiarity that accompanies Slade Wilson’s first appearance – this is also no origin story. Deathstroke is evidently an already established and well-known force within this world. What Slade Wilson’s agenda is within the show remains unknown. Fans, however, can see how Morales fairs as the character – and whether he lives up to the fan-favorite version from Arrow – when season 2 finally comes around.
