Update: Autobot Hound has also been revealed!

This weekend we had the chance to visit the set of Transformers: The Last Knight and see director Michael Bay doing what he does best. We can’t talk about exactly what we saw and learned until next week, but we can talk about some of the new and returning Autobots joining Optimus Prime and Bumblebee on this fifth live-action take on the robots in disguise.

Over the last few days Bay has been revealing the robot forms of several new and returning characters, showcasing new character Hot Rod and the new design of Drift. Last night we get another look at a returning warrior from Transformers: Age of Extinction: Crosshairs.

Where Drift is getting a big time change in his color scheme and car mode, updated from a blue Bugatti to a red-and-black Mercedes-AMG GT R, Crosshairs appears nearly identical to his first appears in the last movie – keeping his green color. Voiced by John DiMaggio, Crosshairs transformed into a 2014 C7 Corvette Stingray in Transformers: Age of Extinction. And since this is our first look at the character in Transformers 5, we can only assume he’s an updated model of that car.

Crosshairs is portrayed as a lone wolf type character, and a skilled range combatant who enters the fight for the right side when it matters most. In that respect he’s similar to Tigatron from the Beast Wars animated series and his personality is reminiscent of the somewhat self-centered (and leader-wannabe) Slingshot from the original animated Transformers series. Interestingly enough, Slingshot was the production name for Crosshairs during the shooting of Age of Extinction.

From a design standpoint, Slingshot, like Drift and Hound, embrace more even more humanoid shapes with more detail and less of a robot design from the first three movies. Hound smoked “cigars” while Drift actually wears Samurai-esque armor, and here Crosshairs has goggles, a toothpick in his mouth, and wears a trench coat of sorts that clashes with the lore and original style (even from a movie standpoint) quite a bit, for better or worse.

For comparison purposes, he’s Crosshairs as depicted in Michael Bay’s Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014):
