Transformers 5 Drifts Robot Mode Revealed

Transformers movie franchise director Michael Bay kicked off the month of July by revealing a photo of a black and red Mercedes-AMG GT R, a new design which also represented the completely new look for Drift in Transformers: The Last Knight. An autobot first introduced in Transformers: Age of Extinction, Drift is voiced by Ken Watanabe and his robot design was inspired by the Samurai.

Where yesterday the first look at Hot Rod in robot form was revealed on social media, today we have our first look at his Autobot ally Drift in his Cybertronian stance as well.

Our first look at Drift shows him as oddly being even more red and colorful than Hot Rod who traditionally has a very vibrant red and yellow (think an actual “hot rod” car with fire streaks). Instead, the film will depict Hot Rod (in his first version, anyway) as being mostly grey with red accents. Here, Drift is all red, and ready to rock with what appears to be four swords attached to his back. Note the same face and Samurai-esque shoulder plate armor from Age of Extinction:

The car and robot mode represent a significant change in look from Drift’s Transformers 4 design where his vehicle mode was that of a blue Bugatti.
