Twilight Whatd Happen If A Vampire Bit A Werewolf (Or Vice Versa)

The Twilight book series and movie saga introduced the audience to a world where vampires, werewolves, and humans coexist (unbeknownst to the latter), which has raised many questions about the dynamics between them, and one of the most intriguing ones is what would happen if a vampire bit a werewolf and vice versa. Stephenie Meyer shared her unique vision of vampires and werewolves in her debut novel Twilight back in 2005, which was only the beginning of a series of four novels and a worldwide phenomenon that built a solid fanbase but also attracted a lot of criticism and controversy.

The Twilight book series made the jump to the big screen between 2008 and 2012, with the final novel, Breaking Dawn, divided into two movies. The Twilight Saga expanded the books’ fanbase and allowed fans to put a face on those characters they already knew so well, but the adaptations also highlighted some of the books’ biggest problems, plot holes, inconsistencies, and made way for a bunch of questions about how this unique universe works. Among those many doubts is one that neither the books nor the movies covered, yet fans are very curious about it: what would happen if a vampire bit a werewolf.

First off, the vampires from the Twilight universe are unlike any others in pop culture. Although they have the basic characteristics of traditional vampires (they are very pale, feed on blood, and are basically immortal), they have some very specific characteristics that make them stand out, such as their skin glowing under the sunlight (and this one not killing them), not being affected by garlic and all those objects usually used to kill a vampire, and the only way to kill one of them is by decapitation and burning the body. It’s not surprising, then, that their venom also works differently, and the effect this has on humans is not the same in werewolves.

If a vampire in the Twilight universe bites a human, the latter will turn into a vampire (unless the venom is taken out, as happened in Twilight with Bella, James, and Edward), but if a vampire bites a werewolf, nothing will happen to the latter. According to The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide, werewolves are the only creatures immune to the venom of vampires, and won’t even go through the same pain as humans when bitten. Now, there’s a difference between werewolves/shapeshifters and Children of the Moon in the Twilight universe, and the effects of vampire venom are slightly different on each one: while it won’t do anything to Children of the Moon, if a shapeshifter is already injured and bitten by a vampire, the venom can neutralize their healing factor, and can potentially be fatal.

As for what would happen if a shapeshifter or Child of the Moon bit a vampire, it depends on each one. Shapeshifters can’t “infect” anyone if they bite them, whereas Children of the Moon can. However, as there’s no more blood running through the veins of vampires, if one was attacked by a Child of the Moon it’s unlikely something would happen to the vampire. The Twilight universe made so many changes to vampires and werewolves that some details can cause a lot of confusion, but when it comes to vampire’s venom and the effects of a werewolf’s bite, it’s a bit easier to understand thanks to what the extended media has explained.
