Raven Software, the studio handling Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, reveals two more exciting multiplayer maps that will be included at the game’s release.
Gamers need only to glance at the recent graphics comparison video between the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and its upcoming remake to realize that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered will be a massive improvement on an old classic. It’s clear that Raven Software, the studio Activision has tasked with reproducing and updating one of the most popular Call of Duty instalments ever, is approaching the remake process with the requisite amount of care and attention to detail.
Luckily for the many fans of Modern Warfare’s multiplayer combat, Raven Software has clearly placed a priority on ensuring Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered’s online experience will be just as refreshing as its graphics overhaul. In an interview with Forbes, Raven Software revealed that the maps Overgrown and Bog would be joining the roster of remade multiplayer content, which includes Crash, Backlot, and Crossfire as well.
In fact, Raven Software indicated that the addition of Overgrown to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered was used as a “proof of concept” by the development team to illustrate what they wanted to achieve with the remake. While there aren’t any detailed illustrations or screenshots to show just how that concept has been brought to life within the game, it’s a safe bet that it will look good. Raven Software studio director David Pellas had this to say about Overgrown:
“So much love went into crafting Overgrown and making it just an amazing experience, amazing visuals, that we then used that as kind of our temperature gauge on the other maps we were working on.”
Raven Software’s reveal of Overgrown and Bog brings the known number of multiplayer maps in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered to five out of the ten total the remake will feature. Five more will be announced at a later date, and the full ten will be released on November 4, 2016. Despite the extremely warm welcome news of the remake has been met with, however, Activision has stated that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered will not be sold separately, and will only be available through various collector’s edition bundles.
While the upcoming release of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare might be the change the franchise needs to stay relevant, it might be an oversight to downplay just how much Modern Warfare Remastered could do for Activision too. Forcing gamers to buy the Infinite Warfare collector’s editions to access Modern Warfare Remastered might seem a little shifty, but the popularity of the original Modern Warfare might be enough to push collector’s edition sales much higher than they would have been otherwise.
What do you think about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered’s multiplayer map selection so far? Are you willing to shell out the money for an update on what many believe to be the best Call of Duty ever created? Let us know in the comments below.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered will be available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on November 4, 2016. However, the game will only be available as a digital download exclusively alongside Legacy Editions of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.
