A surprising glitch in Pokémon Unite has accidentally left Generation One’s Machamp naked, exposing its butt in the newly-released game. Pokémon Unite is a free-to-play MOBA featuring the family-friendly franchise, though the glitch has made the game a little bit more NSFW.

Pokémon Unite was released on Nintendo Switch earlier this month and offers a battle arena multiplayer experience with a sports-like twist. Players form teams of five Pokémon who compete in 10 minute-long matches, defeating opponent Pokémon and scoring goals. Pokémon Unite allows players to take full control of their Pokémon, with characters having different attacks, strengths, and weaknesses. The game is free to download but does feature optional paid content, including various skins and costumes for players’ Pokémon. While lots of the paid options are cosmetic, Pokémon Unite has been criticized for including pay-to-win microtransactions.

Machamp’s dignity has officially now been lost with an in-game glitch that leaves the Pokémon completely nude. As spotted by ComicBook, Twitter user hukuro_unagi took to social media to share a screenshot of a bug they encountered, which shows a butt-naked Machamp looking perhaps a little less shapely than players might have expected. As well as a nude Machamp, the glitch has seemingly removed the player character’s face, taking out its features and leaving nightmare-fuel pupil-less eyes. Perhaps thankfully, the bug also left Machamp facing away from the camera, avoiding full-frontal exposure.

It’s not clear just how common this glitch is, or it will affect other Pokémon in the game. Most of Pokémon Unite’s current roster is already without clothing, meaning the bug won’t affect them too much should it occur for other characters. Devoted Pokémon fans will already know that Machamp’s design doesn’t actually feature the character in clothing, with the official Japanese Pokémon website having previously stated the Pokémon’s typical “attire” is actually part of its skin.

Pokémon Unite has been surprisingly bug-free for most of its players and has already found a solid fanbase despite its microtransaction controversies. While in-game purchases are aplenty in the new release, it can be played without additional purchases, though doing so does have its limitations. The game currency, Gems, can be earned in-game without purchase, though it’s a much slower process that can hinder the overall experience. The game is likely to grow in popularity later this year when it comes to iOS and Android devices. Pokémon Unite will have full crossplay between Nintendo Switch and mobile players when the latter version is released at an unspecified date this September.
