Valheim How to Find Viking Graves

Scattered throughout the open world of Valheim, players can discover Viking graves. Marking the burial ground for Vikings of old, these graves are located in the Meadows biome. Players who explore these gravesites will discover not only the bones of the ancient warriors, but also the riches with which they were buried.

Viking Graves in Valheim can be identified by their distinct upturned stones. The stones are placed in an oval, roughly forming the shape of a Viking Longship. Because Viking graves are located in the Meadows, the biome in which players first spawn, their contents can provide a variety of valuable resources early in the game.

Some of the possible loot that can be excavated from Valheim’s Viking Graves includes bone fragments, gems, and a chest. Players who discover a chest can collect Amber pearls, a Ruby, Fire Arrows, gold coins, or a Silver necklace from inside. The chest is usually located along the midline of the gravesite, with other buried treasures scattered around waiting to be discovered. Bone fragments will be especially useful in the early game to craft or upgrade armor, in addition to being a crafting component for the Cartography Table added in the Hearth and Home update.

How to Find Viking Graves in Valheim

The best way to locate Viking Graves in Valheim is by simply exploring the Meadows biome. Because the gravesites spawn randomly, they can be difficult to find. It may be in a player’s best interest to just keep an eye out for them as they embark on their day-to-day adventures. The graves can also be somewhat hidden when trees or boulders spawn within the gravesite.

After finding a gravesite, players equipped with a Wishbone can find the exact location of the chest with ease. As soon as they are nearby, the Wishbone will ping to alert them of the chest’s location. However, for players who have a Wishbone, the loot discovered at these gravesites won’t be anything they couldn’t have already found in the various dungeons throughout the game. Players without a Wishbone can still dig with their pickaxe or hoe through the outline of rocks and discover the chest and other valuable resources without too much difficulty.

The Viking Gravesites give players a chance to collect gold coins and rare gemstones early in Valheim, before they have progressed to the point they can venture into the Black Forest and complete the dungeons with similar loot. As players level up, they can use their collected gold coins, as well as their Amber pearls, Rubies, and Silver necklaces, to purchase items from Haldor the merchant after discovering his location.
