Pat of what makes Bravo’s Vanderpump Rules so special are the relationships between the cast. Unlike other shows on Bravo, VPR was one of the first reality shows to feature a group of friends who have been friends with each other for years — not to mention that they have some of the wildest and most iconic moments of ever shown on the network.

As much as Bravo fans love drama, the betrayals shown on VPR are hard to swallow at times. Knowing that the bonds between these friends are real, it’s hard to believe production doesn’t orchestrate the conflicts. Some of them were so raw that viewers felt every emotion running through the cast.

10 Jax And Kristen’s Secret Relationship Hurt Everyone

One of the first betrayals shown in VPR was when Stassi broke up with Jax (yet again) for cheating on her. For months, Stassi heard a rumor that Jax and her best friend Kristen slept together while they were still dating, but both Jax and Kristen denied it. Eventually, Jax tried to win Stassi back and told her the truth: He did sleep with Kristen. It was one of the worst things Jax did. Kristen denied it until her lies overcame her and she admitted it to Stassi. Stassi was heartbroken because she lost not only her boyfriend but also her best friend.

9 Katie Was More Betrayed By Tom Schwartz’s Lying Than His Actions

Sadly, cheating allegations are normal throughout VPR and come up in most seasons. One of the worst ways they come about is from guys’ nights.

In one episode, Jax betrayed Tom Schwartz’s trust by showing Kristen text messages that proved that Schwartz cheated on Katie during a guys’ trip. As great as Schwartz and Katie were, they had toxic moments. Knowing that Katie was going to find out, Schwartz told her at a public dinner so she couldn’t overreact. Katie and Schwartz made it through this betrayal, but she was more hurt by Schwartz lying to her than the actual act of cheating.

8 Tom Sandoval Cheated On Kristen Throughout Their Relationship

When it came to Tom Sandoval and Kristen’s relationship, they hurt each other time and time again but rarely broke up because of it. Eventually, though, their continuing acts of betrayal became too much to bear and they finally called it quits.

Not only did Kristen cheat on her boyfriend (Sandoval) with his best friend (Jax), but Sandoval also cheated on Kristen with multiple women. As girlfriend and boyfriend, they had some of the worst moments on VPR.

7 Jax Broke Brittany’s Heart

Everyone warned Brittany about Jax when she moved from Kentucky to LA to be with him. Jax had a bad reputation and was going to be a bad influence. She ignored all the naysayers and followed her heart, which led to her future husband but, before that, heartbreak.

Thanks to some incriminating text messages, Brittany found out that Jax slept with a friend of theirs while they were dating. He denied it multiple times even though the truth was clear. Eventually, the pair worked things out and are now married.

6 James Burned Too Many Bridges With LVP

DJ James Kennedy has been fired from SUR on multiple occasions. Although he worked at SUR, James’s side project was DJing.

In season 5, James was fired for his behavior while on the job. He was drinking too much while working, treating women poorly, and being inappropriate to Lisa. Eventually, Lisa had enough and fired him, but because Lisa has a close relationship with James’s family, she rehired him. Sadly, nothing changed for James after his first firing. He was fired again after body-shaming Katie in front of others at an event. James eventually got sober and changed his ways, earning back the respect of his friends and bosses.

5 Tim Sandoval Allegedly Cheated On Ariana

Kristen was irate when Tom Sandoval began dating Ariana. Kristen was under the impression that Sandoval cheated on her with Ariana and hated the fact that they got together so soon after Kristen and Sandoval broke up. Unfortunately for Kristen, Tom and Ariana were one of the best couples at SUR.

Kristen tried to prove to Ariana that Sandoval was an awful guy. After hearing that Sandoval cheated on her while in Miami, Kristen found the girl he cheated with and invited her to LA to confront Sandoval herself. Sandoval looked like he saw a ghost when he laid eyes on “Miami Girl.” Miami Girl stayed true to her story and noted that she and Sandoval were physical together, but Ariana didn’t believe any of it. Ariana and Sandoval left hand in hand, but considering Miami Girl’s apparent transparency, it was hard for viewers to believe she lied.

4 Lala Argyed With James About A Plate Of Pasta

James and Lala have a complicated history. They started out as friends who would occasionally flirt with each other, and they eventually slept together. But they realized they were better off as friends than lovers. Both James and Lala have a tendency to cross lines, so even their friendship has had its moments of betrayal.

In one scene, James was annoyed with Lala for her behavior at dinner the night before. He claimed that she ruined his girlfriend’s night by finishing her pasta dish. Lala denied it and said that his girlfriend offered her the pasta dish. Out of nowhere, James insults Lala‘s boyfriend and her dignity because of the ordeal. Lala was so upset that she left in a hurry. James chased after her and the two had a screaming match on the sidewalk.

3 Scheana Went Against Ariana

When Ariana and Sandoval began dating, everyone around them was thrilled because they saw Arianna as a better choice of a girlfriend than Kristen. However, the more time Ariana and Sandoval spent together, the more they excluded everyone else. Their behavior became their own little storyline. Scheana grew annoyed that her best friend was slowly leaving her side to be with Sandoval and lashed out at her when the moment presented itself.

When Ariana’s mom texted Scheana to ask her about the state of Ariana and Sandoval’s relationship, Scheana didn’t hold back. She told her mom that felt Ariana and Sandoval were too cocky and condescending toward others. Ariana saw this as the ultimate betrayal.

2 Friends And Business Didn’t Mix

When Stassi wanted to have a party at TomTom to celebrate the public reading of her book, plans for the event were set and ready to go. But on the day of the event, there appeared to be some miscommunication between Stassi, Tom Sandoval, and Tom Schwartz.

Sandoval didn’t realize how many people were showing up, so he felt ill-prepared and out of the loop. He and Stassi began to fight because she felt he was ruining the event even though she did everything correctly and by the book. Eventually, Sandoval pointed the blame at Schwartz. Sandoval said Schwartz was a “big problem” because he was good at making drinks but not great at the business end of things, which is where they needed help. Schwartz felt degraded, talked down to, and undeserving of Sandoval’s treatment.

1 James Fat-Shamed Katie In Front Of Everyone

Often when James was at his worst with drinking, he got on everyone’s bad side. After having a few drinks, he often became rude and condescending. In one episode, it was James and Lala versus everyone else. The opposing group tried having a good time, but when James and Lala began making cocktails with the group’s alcohol, Katie spoke up. Lala made a comment about the group not having “summer bodies,” which prompted James to ask Katie if she was pregnant due to her body type. Scheana was so disgusted that she threw her drink on James.
