On Vanderpump Rules, there have been many relationships over the years. Many of the cast members have been in relationships with each other, and some have had multiple partners as the years have gone by.

The longest-lasting relationship of any of the main cast members is between Katie Maloney and Tom Schwartz. They were dating when the show first started, and they are still together today. Despite having been together for many years, their relationship has had a lot of not so great moments as well as some positive ones.

10 Good: Katie putting up with Tom not always being the most competent person

While Tom Schwartz is known for being an attractive and charming guy, he’s definitely not the most competent person. He wasn’t even able to handle one bartending shift for Lisa, and he generally seems to skate by on his looks and puppy dog personality.

While this can be charming, it would also get annoying at times, but Katie does well at accepting this part of him.

9 Toxic: When Tom poured a drink on her head

During season two, at one of Stassi’s birthday celebrations while in Cabo, things start getting out of hand in the group again. During one of the many group fights, Katie and Tom start to fight with one another.

While they both were being a little bit over the top, Tom ends up pouring a drink on Katie’s head. This definitely wasn’t a good look for him.

8 Good: The times Tom has said Katie is beautiful

On the one hand, Tom supporting his wife by saying she’s beautiful, and sort of defending her against body-shaming, is sort of the bare minimum of a good relationship.

However, given that these people are both reality television stars with very dramatic lives, this actually seems sweet in their relationship. While Tom could do a lot more to defend her, this is a good start.

7 Toxic: The fact they fought all the time before they got married

Tom and Katie’s wedding was a big part of the plot of season five of Vanderpump Rules, and it caused a lot of drama between them.

Katie had basically given Schwartz an ultimatum to get married, and it was clear that their relationship wasn’t in a great place. They fought constantly during this season, and they both did and said some awful things to one another during this time.

6 Good: Katie supporting TomTom

When Lisa gave Tom Schwartz the chance to partner with her for TomTom, it was a big deal for him because he isn’t known for being a hard worker.

Katie has been really supportive of this from the start and always seemed to encourage him that he deserved this. It was sweet to see them be on the same page about something for once as this was something that benefited both of them.

5 Toxic: Tequila Katie

When it comes to Katie and Tom, many fans view Katie as the villain and Tom as an innocent party, but it’s clear that they are both awful to one another in turns.

However, Katie has had some moments where she was pretty horrible to Tom. She can be very verbally abusive, especially over text messages, and the way she acted when drinking a lot was so awful it earned her the nickname of Tequila Katie.

4 Good: When Tom finally had Katie’s back about James(kind of)

One big point of contention between these two is that Schwartz doesn’t often have Katie’s back. While sometimes Katie can expect people to take sides too much, as her partner, he should at least try to support her.

So, when he has at least sometimes listened to her about not wanting James around, it’s at least progress in that area even if it’s not perfect.

3 Toxic: The times Tom cheated on Katie

While other people on the show like Jax and Kristen have been blasted by fellow castmates and by fans for cheating, Tom Schwartz has also cheated. There have been multiple instances of cheating or rumors of cheating with Schwartz confirming at least one of them.

While he claims to have only ever made out with other women, there’s a lot of rumors that it seems likely some of them are true.

2 Good: Their wedding was surprisingly endearing

While the lead-up to Tom and Katie’s wedding was rather stressful, the actual wedding itself was surprisingly endearing. It might have been best for them to wait to get married until they were in a better place, but they did seem to be in love on their wedding day and happy to be getting married.

So, at least that was a heartwarming moment for the two of them.

1 Toxic: When Tom verbally abused Katie in a recent episode

While it might seem like Tom and Katie’s relationship is better these days, in a recent episode from season eight, it was revealed things aren’t all well between them.

Tom became pretty verbally abusive to Katie after she voiced being uncomfortable with a prank involving the cops that Jax and Randall had pulled on Tom Sandoval. He said things about their sex life that were private and was really mean in front of all of their friends.
