VFX Artists Create Over-The-Top R-Rated Spider-Man Clips

VFX studio Corridor Digital figured that Spider-Man could use a little more blood, so they added a lot more blood instead, because why not?

With Spider-Man: No Way Home currently entertaining audiences by exploring the multiverse that spans all of Marvel’s cinematic properties, many fans have quickly begun speculating about what sorts of changes they might see to the regular formula. Sure, there’s always the chance of seeing alternate versions of classic heroes and villains, but what about a more visceral take on these normally pretty family-friendly stories?

That’s where VFX studio Corridor Digital comes in. Not content with merely turning Harry Potter into an R-rated spectacle of blood and gore, they’ve now decided to give the same treatment to Spider-Man himself. But it would be too easy to just focus on Tom Holland’s current version of the character. So the team dug into the web slinger’s past to punch up scenes from all 3 of Hollywood’s most popular Spider-Man franchises into some more mature territory, and of course, they had fun while doing it.

As with most of their videos, the Corridor Crew focused on combining comedy, education, and genuine professionalism for this latest entry. The main idea was to take scenes from Spider-Man movies going from the Sam Raimi trilogy all the way to Spider-Man: Homecoming and crank up the dial on the violence, usually to a hilarious degree. The thing is, while the humor was a big part of it, the crew largely kept things in the realm of reality. Or, at least, they kept it within the reality of the movies themselves.

But as an extra twist, they also decided to go one step further by framing this as a “pruning” done by Owen Wilson’s Agent Mobius from the Disney Plus series Loki in an effort to preserve the timeline by killing off Spider-Man variants. Using plenty of digital trickery, the members of Corridor inserted Wilson’s character into each bloody scene, insinuating that the following carnage was completely his doing. From splattering Tobey Maguire’s fledgling hero into a billboard to smashing Andrew Garfield’s less-than-accurate Spidey into the ground after failing to catch the talented Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, the Time Bureau agent clearly decided there’s no kill like overkill.

What sets Corridor Crew videos apart from several of their contemporaries is how they explain exactly what they’re doing at each step of the VFX process. Plus, they do it in a rather user-friendly manner, ensuring that even viewers with no knowledge of these technical terms and methods can easily follow along. It’s likely why they’ve gained such a following with their main channel, Corridor, as well as Corridor Crew, which covers the behind-the-scenes stuff and plenty of other entertaining offerings. Just ask the super excited delivery driver who showed up partway through.

If a bunch of dead Spider-Men and a showdown with Bully Maguire aren’t enough to slake that bloodlust, Corridor Crew still has plenty of other offerings in the same vein on their channel. For those less interested in gore, they also put out a regular series of videos featuring various industry experts reacting to visual effects, animations, stunts, and everything in-between in various movies and TV shows, so get ready to jump down an enjoyable YouTube rabbit hole.
