Walking Dead Admits Rick Grimes Is The CRM’s Biggest Threat
The CRM is The Walking Dead’s most powerful force by far, but World Beyond admits its biggest threat may be one man and his beard – Rick Grimes.

In The Walking Dead: World Beyond’s series finale, Jadis admits the biggest threat to her mighty CRM group is probably Rick Grimes. Audiences have glimpsed a wide variety of settlements and communities in The Walking Dead’s zombie apocalypse. Absolutely all of them pale in comparison to the Civic Republic Military. Based in a top-secret location, the Civic Republic houses at least 200,000 citizens, and is led by its military wing, the CRM. As well as vast resources and disposable soldiers, the CRM boasts helicopters, sonic disruption charges, and chemical weapons, while giving the Whisperers a run for their skins in terms of manipulating herds.
Who can possibly bring this villainous organization down? If The Walking Dead’s clues are anything to go by, probably Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes. We know Rick was taken by the CRM via helicopter following his exit in The Walking Dead season 9. It’s also safe to assume the righteous protagonist was less-than-impressed by the CRM’s habit of committing genocide and, sure enough, The Walking Dead season 10 saw Michonne find evidence suggesting Rick was on the road again, not yet returning to Alexandria for some unknown reason. Could he be plotting the CRM’s downfall after witnessing its horrors first hand?
Based on everything The Walking Dead has revealed of the CRM thus far, many would assume Major General Beale’s attitude is “Rick who?” With the brute force at their disposal, the CRM has little reason to be scared of a lone man, no matter how impressive his facial hair. One would expect the Civic Republic’s leaders to pay Rick Grimes as much heed as zombies pay vegetarianism, but Walking Dead: World Beyond’s series finale suggests otherwise. Speaking with Lieutenant Colonel Kublek in the closing scenes, Jadis freely describes Rick as “the strongest person I’ve ever met.”
Bestowing such an honor upon Rick Grimes, Jadis is essentially acknowledging his unrivaled power and influence. She’s placing him above Major General Beale, above Elizabeth Kublek and, indeed, above anyone inside the CRM, regardless of rank. Describing Rick as a “stronger” presence than any officer on the CRM’s books is huge – tantamount to admitting Rick could actually cause their massive military operation problems if he chose to defy them. Jadis is no small fry either – convincing Beale to sign Elizabeth’s arrest warrant proves the former Scavenger has the boss’ ear. That means the entire CRM could be following Jadis’ example and treating Rick Grimes as an enemy to be respected… and feared
Describing him as the “strongest,” Jadis doesn’t mean Rick spent The Walking Dead’s time skip getting buff in the Civic Republic gym. She’s referring to Rick’s gritty determination, his powerful leadership, and his uncanny ability to win the hearts of other survivors over to his cause. Those qualities are Kryptonite to a dictatorship like the CRM, potentially foreshadowing Andrew Lincoln’s character as some kind of revolutionary – a wanted man gathering fighters who share his anti-CRM sentiment.
The curious fly in the ointment, however, is Jadis’ lofty position among the CRM ranks. If Jadis was responsible for bringing Revolution Rick to the CRM, surely she’d be punished – especially after lying about him being a “B” rather than an “A.” So, while it’s apparent Jadis and the CRM view Rick with respectful caution, there’s no ill will toward the woman who brought that danger to their doorstep. Could this prove the Civic Republic believes its Rick problem has already been dealt with? Answers will surely be revealed in The Walking Dead’s upcoming movie, where Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes can show Jadis exactly why he’s the strongest person she knows.
