What If The Euphoria Cast Entered the MCU

It’s safe to say HBO’s Euphoria is one of the hottest young adult TV series of the last decade. The show’s had a unique advantage being on HBO Max, which allows it to be more unrestrained with sex, drugs and nudity. In fact, showrunner Sam Levinson has not held back at all on how his teens embrace the chaos in their intense lives.

The series also has the benefit of a solid cast, which social media-savvy audiences adore. Leading that cast, of course, is Zendaya, whose credits already included the role of M.J. in the new Spider-Man movies. Sydney Sweeney, another Euphoria star, has also seen a rise in popularity, impressing critics and being cast in an unknown role for Sony’s upcoming Spider-Man spinoff film, Madame Webb. Hollywood is clearly taking note of Euphoria’s cast, so with that in mind, let’s dive into who the other cast members could play if they were plopped into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Cassie Howard Could Be Spider-Gwen

What If The Euphoria Cast Entered the MCU

Sydney Sweeney’s Cassie Howard was an emotional mess, but she eventually worked through it. All she wanted was to find her place in the LA-esque high school hierarchy, finally understanding she needed to love herself first to truly be happy. Spider-Gwen’s gone through a similar journey of self-discovery, and seeing as Sweeney’s has dynamic range, not to mention blonde hair, she could pull off playing Gwen in Madame Web. In addition to her tremendous acting skills, it helps that the 24 year-old can still pass for a teen.

Cal Jacobs Is Perfect for Norman Osborn

What If The Euphoria Cast Entered the MCU

On Euphoria, Cal Jacobs is a twisted dad who turned out to be a sexual predator. On top of his vices, he was a puppet master, manipulating his family while hiding a violent streak. Thus, it’d be easy to see Eric Dane channeling Cal as the MCU’s Norman Osborn. The Osborns are yet to be seen in the MCU, but due to how well Cal played his loved ones while hiding his darkness, he’s an ideal choice to play Norman. Dane has shown how well he can portray someone who eventually cracks and unleashes his inner Green Goblin.

Nate Jacobs Is an Ideal Harry Osborn

What If The Euphoria Cast Entered the MCU

In the comics, Harry Osborn hated his dad, yet part of him kept trying to live up to Norman’s ideals. It’s why he eventually embraced his own darkness and became Green Goblin, too. Luckily, Harry fought back and tried to rid himself of his dad’s poison, which is what Nate did on Euphoria. He had Cal arrested, resisting the urge to be a monster like his father. Actor Jacob Elordi really did a great job with this, which would make him a great fit to play a Harry who wants to buck his destiny.

Ashtray’s a Little Winter Soldier

What If The Euphoria Cast Entered the MCU

Marvel introduced RJ Boyle as a Winter Soldier-esque teen whom Bucky Barnes had to save. Bucky didn’t want RJ becoming a programmed killer like he was, but the teen didn’t want out of the assassin’s life. Ashtray cut a similar figure on Euphoria, not wanting to escape the drug business — so much so, he died in a firefight against a SWAT team. Given his itchy trigger-finger, lack of words and how many people he killed one-on-one with knives, actor Javon Walton can definitely turn his Ash into an RJ Boyle in the MCU.

Fezco Could Be The Hood

What If The Euphoria Cast Entered the MCU

Ash’s older brother, Fezco, kept his drug-dealing operation secret, but while he was quiet, he was deadly. In this role, actor Angus Cloud definitely shows that he has chops for The Hood, who uses magical relics to become a supernatural gangster. The Hood never planned on being a don, but he was so good at business that he became a mob boss. Fez is just as smart, although without the mysticism, as he climbed the dealer ladder to gain respect in the fraternity. Given Cloud’s chill demeanor, he’d bring a unique take to The Hood, more focused on business than murder.

Kat Hernandez Has a Cloud 9 Aura

What If The Euphoria Cast Entered the MCU

In Avengers: The Initiative, Abigail Boylen (aka Cloud 9), a teen capable of generating gas clouds, tries to become a superhero. However, she struggled with weight issues, ashamed over her body image. Thankfully, she realized she was beautiful, no matter what, and eventually joined the Champions. On Euphoria, Barbie Ferreira’s Kat Hernandez went through a similar journey at school, eventually embracing her size and becoming a confident, badass lead. Ferreira has been quite vocal about this topic, and given her acting skills, she’d be the ideal choice if the MCU wanted to explore Cloud 9.

Lexi Howard Is Robotic Like Viv Vision

What If The Euphoria Cast Entered the MCU

Many Marvel fans loved how Vision’s tragic family story was mapped, giving rise to Viv Vision. The teen android eventually worked with the Champions, although it took time for them to warm to her given her cold, sometimes mean attitude. It was all due to her honesty and logic, which Maude Apatow’s Lexi exuded. She aired everyone’s dirty laundry in her play, while maintaining it was truth mixed with art. The way she lacked compassion and empathy, while actually making valid points with her cruelty, definitely syncs with Viv’s robotic form as all Lexi wanted was some form of peace at school.

Maddy Perez Has That Black Cat Vibe

What If The Euphoria Cast Entered the MCU

Despite being with Nate on Euphoria, Maddy Perez was all about teasing and playing games. Alexa Demie nailed the role with her spunk and overall attitude, perfectly masking Maddy’s pain and loneliness. Outside of being a seductress, Maddy is also a thief, stealing from folks she babysat for. It’s easy to see how easily Demie could adapt the role of Maddy into the MCU’s Black Cat, aka Felicia Hardy. They have so many common traits as strong women who don’t take B.S., and who love striking back at the patriarchy and system.

Jules Vaughn Could Be Jessie Drake

What If The Euphoria Cast Entered the MCU

Marvel’s Jessie Drake debuted in 1994 as a transgender teen who helped Typhoid Mary, only reappearing last year after forming a bond with Black Cat. With the MCU taking great strides towards inclusivity, introducing transgender and gender-fluid characters, Hunter Schafer would be perfect for the role of Jessie. As Jules, Schafer covered the emotional spectrum — love, rejection, sobriety, etc. — and would do Jessie major service, elevating Jessie to more than just a bit-part mutant who harnesses empathy. It’d be a big statement on diversity for when mutants are indeed introduced in the MCU.

Elliot Has That Kid Nova Energy

Euphoria’s Elliot is bubbly yet emo, which reeks of Sam Alexander/Nova. Sam had so much trouble adjusting to his powers, dealing with family and traversing love. What’s intriguing is how selfless both are, with Elliot sacrificing his own feelings to ensure Rue and Jules led better lives. It’s something Sam has shown in the Champions repeatedly, always concerned for his teammates’ mental wellbeing, not just their physical health. Actor Dominic Fike could easily nail the role of Nova by just adding a bit more exuberance to his impressive performance as Elliot.

Both seasons of Euphoria are available on HBO Max.
