What Megan Fox Has Done Since Transformers

Megan Fox’s big break arrived when she joined the Transformers franchise as Mikaela Banes, but what has she done since she left the world of Transformers? Megan Fox rose to fame when she joined one of the most popular franchises in the world of sci-fi, but she wasn’t a newcomer when she was cast as Mikaela Banes. Fox’s acting career began in 2001 in the direct-to-video rom-com Holiday in the Sun, starring Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, in which she played the antagonist of the story. Her next role was on TV in the soap opera Ocean Ave. where she played Ione Starr, and after that, she returned to the big screen in Disney’s Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, where she once more played the antagonist.

Fox has alternated her acting career between film and TV, and what followed were minor appearances in shows like What I Like About You, Two and a Half Men, a main role in the short-lived sitcom The Help, the sitcom Hope & Faith, and a starring role in the TV movie Boss Girl (also known as Crimes of Fashion). However, and as mentioned above, her big break arrived in 2007 when she was cast as Mikaela Banes in Michael Bay’s Transformers, based on the toy and cartoon saga of the same name. Fox played the love interest of the main character, Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf), so she was signed on to appear in two sequels, though she only returned for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

Fox didn’t reprise her role as Mikaela in the third Transformers movie, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, with her departure surrounded by controversy due to her comments on her experience working with Michael Bay and the real reason why she was left out of the movie. In between Transformers movies, however, Fox appeared in the movies How to Lose Friends & Alienate People and Whore, but her career definitely improved once she left the universe of Transformers. Her next project was the comedy-horror Jennifer’s Body, directed by Karyn Kusama and written by Diablo Cody, in which she played the main role. Jennifer’s Body wasn’t well-received at first, but Fox’s performance received a lot of praise, and the movie has now gathered a cult following.

Fox’s next projects were the Western superhero movie Jonah Hex, the drama Passion Play, the rom-com Friends with Kids, and the comedies The Dictator and This Is 40, before she joined another big-budget production: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Fox was cast as April O’Neil, a news reporter and human ally of the Ninja Turtles, and reprised her role in the sequel, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. Fox then took part in movies from different genres, such as Above the Shadows, Zeroville, The Battle of Jangsari, Think Like a Dog, and Rogue, with her most recent works being the horror-thriller Till Death and the crime thriller Midnight in the Switchgrass. Fox already has a couple of projects lined up for the near future, as are the dark comedy Big Gold Brick, the 3D documentary Naya Legend of the Golden Dolphins, and the long-awaited The Expendables 4.

After her time in the Transformers franchise, Fox also found time to take on some TV roles. She lent her voice to Lois Lane in Robot Chicken and Robot Chicken DC Comics Special, played Alexa Jordan in Wedding Band, and played Reagan Lucas in New Girl. Megan Fox’s big break happened thanks to Transformers, but her career has definitely improved since she left that universe and she has pretty much explored every genre in film, and she will continue to do so as more projects come her way.
