What To Expect From Emily In Paris Season 2

With Emily in Paris is now streaming on Netflix, fans may be curious about what lies ahead in season 2 for Emily Cooper (Lily Collins). Officially announced in 2018, the series is created by Darren Starr — the mind behind classic TV shows like Beverly Hills, 90210, Melrose Place, Younger, and Sex and the City.

The events of Emily in Paris is kicked off after American Emily suddenly gets a job opportunity to work at a marketing firm in Paris. She excitedly packs her bags and treats it as a new adventure, but moving to the City of Lights isn’t going to be as easy as she envisioned it to be. Her boyfriend, who was left in Chicago, breaks up with her after claiming he can’t do a long-distance relationship and she’s forced to work with people who clearly do not like her. However, thanks to pure grit and determination to excel, she thrives in the city.

Emily in Paris attracted a lot of viewers in its first weekend of release on Netflix, ranking as the #4 release on Saturday. That bodes well for its renewal chances, but what can fans expect from Emily in Paris season 2?

Emily In Paris Season 2 Renewal

What To Expect From Emily In Paris Season 2

Season 1 of Emily In Paris sets up a continuation of the story. Emily gets to stay in Savoir after Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu) takes back her decision to fire her on the heels of a failed marketing stunt for Pierre Cadault (Jean-Christophe Bouvet) that resulted in the veteran fashion designer suffering a mental breakdown. As she continues her Parisian stint, Emily’s personal relationship is also thriving with Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) deciding to stay in the city, hinting that the neighbors will finally get to be an official couple.

While this ending lays the groundwork for Emily in Paris season 2, there’s no official word from Netflix about the show’s future yet. That’s not a cause for concern, however, as the streaming giant tends to take a few weeks to months to determine whether or not they’ll move forward with a new series, in order to gauge viewing figures and interest.

Emily In Paris Season 2 Release Date Info

What To Expect From Emily In Paris Season 2

Since Emily in Paris season 2 is still unconfirmed, it’s difficult to say when new episodes of the show might drop on Netflix — if at all. That said, assuming that it’ll get second-year order, chances are that it won’t be ready until at least 2022. Netflix has a string of original shows in its pipeline that’s waiting to film for its succeeding seasons, not to mention new ones that are about to debut. It’s safe to assume that the streaming service is prioritizing projects that already have an established fanbase. Moreover, since much of Emily in Paris filmed on location, it will be challenging to begin filming on its second season given the ongoing pandemic.

Emily In Paris Season 2 Story Details

There’s a lot of potential if Emily in Paris gets a second season. Emily and Gabriel’s relationship is heating up, but there’s still one hurdle: Camille (Camille Razat), who’s unaware that her new American best friend and ex-boyfriend are into each other. The parting shot of the show sees Emily getting a text from Camille regarding Gabriel’s decision to not move to Normandy – but whether or not she comes clean about her budding romance with the promising chef remains to be seen. There’s also the complication of Emily sort of dating Mathieu Cadault (Charles Martins).

Meanwhile, at Savoir, Emily is in a better position in the company than when she first started, but that doesn’t mean that things will be easy for her moving forward. Sylvie’s affair with Antonine Lambert (William Abadie) will more likely also be a focus, as well as Mindy Chen’s (Ashley Park) budding singing career in Emily in Paris season 2.
