Season 3 of the Netflix series dropped in March 2020, a year after the previous installment, which ended on another cliffhanger. The new season picked up directly after the core four – Monse, Cesar, Ruby, and Jamal – were kidnapped.

Though it wasn’t a life or death situation like On My Block’s season 1 cliffhanger, fans were still left wondering who took the four main characters hostage at the end of season 2. The orchestrator of the kidnapping was actually revealed in the season 3 trailer footage. It turned out to be Cuchillos, the leader of the Santos. She recruited Monse and her three friends to search for Lil Ricky, the former Santos member presumed dead, who she believed was still alive.

Netflix’s On My Block season 3 follows Monse, Cesar, Ruby, Jamal as they go on a wild goose chase to find Lil Ricky as their lives hang in the balance. Netflix has yet to announce the status of On My Block and whether the series will be renewed for a fourth season. In the past, the streamer has released renewal plans about a month after the latest season dropped. Both renewal announcements surrounding season 2 and season 3 came by the end of April. It’s likely that Netflix will follow that timeline and make a decision within weeks of season 3’s debut. The latest season featured a few conclusive endings but it’s clear that there are more stories to tell, even if Netflix often cancels shows after three seasons.

On My Block premiered on Netflix in March 2018. Thankfully, On My Block stuck to the same timeframe and wasted no time in developing season 3 so that it would be ready in March of this year. If the series does continue, there’s enough reason to believe that Netflix will keep it on the March schedule or sometime in the Spring of 2021.

On My Block Season 4 Story Details

Though Lil Ricky was never found, season 3 presented a few interesting surprises. When Spooky and Cesar learned that Cuchillos once betrayed their father, the pair had issues with meeting her demands. Spooky ended up making a deal with 19th Street and Cuchillos was killed, giving him a way out of the Santos. Cesar, however, was not as lucky since the two-year flash-forward revealed that while Spooky turned into a family man, Cesar went on to become the leader of the Santos. After finally gaining a love interest this season, Jamal was shown to be a star athlete in the time-jump while Ruby and Jasmine were still happily dating. Monse was seen living the private school life and seemed to have forgotten her time spent with her best friends. Season 4 could either fill those gaps, explaining what leads up to those sequences or continue on from the time jump. Either way, On My Block still has many questions to answer.
