What To Expect From The Flight Attendant Season 2

The Flight Attendant has proven to a hit for HBO Max, so what will season 2 look like? Based on the novel of the same name by Chris Bohjalian, the adaptation stars Kaley Cuoco as the titular flight attendant Cassie Bowden. Regularly exhibiting reckless behavior, Cassie wakes up in a Bangkok hotel room next to the dead body of a man she’d slept with the night before. Given that she was very hazy regarding what transpired on her date with the man, Alex (Michiel Huisman), Cassie assumes the police will single her out as a suspect. In the first of many bad decisions, Cassie cleans up the crime scene and tries to pretend that nothing happened. That approach doesn’t work for long, and soon the character gets swept up in a conspiracy.

In the penultimate episode of The Flight Attendant, Cassie discovers that Buckley (Colin Woodell) killed Alex. Joining forces with Miranda (Michelle Gomez), Cassie confronts Buckley in the finale. After a struggle and a bit of assistance, Cassie survives her encounter with the assassin. Over the course of the episode, Cassie reconciles with friends and family. She even vows to give up drinking, although she admits the difficulty of remaining sober. The finale is intended to serve as a satisfying end to the story of Alex’s murder.

Still, the show does leave room for a continuation. Executive producer Steve Yockley and Cuoco, also an executive producer, have both said they’re open to returning for another round. Unlike other HBO Max renewals, which are typically announced within six to eight weeks after a show’s debut, The Flight Attendant season 2 was swiftly given a greenlight. Here’s what we know about it so far.

For season 1, the show began filming its eight episodes in November 2019, with the bulk of shooting taking place in New York. After a production shutdown related to COVID-19, The Flight Attendant wrapped production in August 2020. The first three episodes then arrived to HBO Max on November 26. The Flight Attendant Season 2 Story Details

The Flight Attendant makes sure to give a full ending to Cassie’s arch in the finale, but it does hint at further adventures. Most notably, it’s revealed in the finale that Shane (Griffin Matthews) is a secret CIA operative posing as a flight attendant. He saves Cassie from Buckley and, later, tells her that she’s been offered a job as a CIA agent herself. A second season would almost certainly explore that avenue, in addition to Cassie’s struggles with sobriety.

The Flight Attendant season 2 could also examine the lives of the supporting characters who came in contact with Cassie. Annie (Zosia Mamet) proved to be popular as Cassie’s neurotic best friend. Her skills as a lawyer and relationship with Max (Deniz Akdeniz) could receive more focus. Miranda and Buckley both survived the hectic finale, which leaves them open for a return. Enrico (Alberto Frezza), Cassie’s friend in Rome, likewise lived to see another day. He could be back as a recurring character. A separate approach would be to make Megan (Rosie Perez) the main character in season 2. After unknowingly giving highly sensitive information to the North Korean government, Megan is last seen on the run from authorities.

On a more personal level, away from conspiracies and secret CIA work, The Flight Attendant season 2 could delve deeper into Cassie’s fraught family history. That includes an abusive father and an uneasy relationship with older brother Davey (T.R. Knight). The adaptation spent a lot of time exploring Cassie’s difficult childhood, which would be worth revisiting. Regardless of the direction The Flight Attendant goes in, however, many fans are eager to see more of it.
