An exciting update was released regarding upcoming events for Pokémon GO during the month of May. Players will be able to hit the streets during special spotlight hours every Tuesday evening, and enjoy an exciting May Community Day event during the middle of the month. Pokémon GO will also welcome two Legendary Pokémon from the Kalos region, who will both debut over the course of the month.
Community day events are a great way for Pokémon GO fans to come together and spend the day spinning Pokéstops and catching Pokémon that might otherwise be difficult to find. The spawn rates on certain species can also increase the chance of locating Shiny Pokémon. Community days also come with special bonus effects that can double Stardust, XP, or Candy earned during gameplay, making participation in these events worthwhile for players.
This year, May Community Day will be happening on May 15th, from 11AM to 5PM local time. Every hour a different Pokémon will have a spotlight, allowing the species to appear more frequently in the wild. Currently, it isn’t known what Pokémon are planned for each spotlight, but developer Niantic stated more information will be coming soon in a future blog post.
