When The New Call Of Duty Season Is Coming Out (& Whats Included)

As was the case with 2019’s Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will be receiving periodic season updates throughout the year, with new maps, new game modes, updates for Zombies, and a new battle pass filled with new weapons and cosmetics.

Thanks to the game’s integration with Warzone, that means new content will be coming to the free-to-play battle royale as well, with battle pass rewards largely working in both Warzone and Black Ops Cold War. A major change looks to be coming to Warzone’s map of Verdansk too.

There’s a ton of new content for Call of Duty players to dig into, and thankfully, eager players won’t have to wait long.

New Call Of Duty Season Release Date

CoD’s Black Ops Cold War season two begins on February 25, and brings with it a huge amount of new content for players to sink their teeth into. Leading the charge are six new weapons: the Fara 83 assault rifle, the LC10 SMG, the R1 Shadowhunter crossbow, the ZRG 20mm sniper, and melee weapons such as the E-Tool and machete.

Four new multiplayer maps will make their debut in Black Ops Cold War Season 2 as well. These include a 6v6 map titled Apocalypse set in a jungle stronghold, a gunfight map titled Mansion (pretty self-explanatory), a multi-team map titled Golova set in a Russian village, and a modified 6v6 version of Black Op Cold War’s existing Miami map, only this time set during the day.

That’s just the tip of the iceberg. Warzone, Black Ops Cold War multiplayer, and Zombies are all receiving new modes. Black Ops Cold War will finally get its own version of the popular Gun Game free-for-all mode alongside the Kill-Confirmed/Hardpoint hybrid known as Stockpile. Outbreak is a new, large scale zombies mode that continues the Dark Aether storyline. For Warzone players, the Rebirth Island Resurgence Extreme limited time mode will up the max player count in a respawn-enabled frenzy for supremacy. Later in the season, players will be able to check out Warzone’s Exfiltration mode as well, which sees players attempting to secure a radio for an extended period of time to secure an instant victory.

Warzone’s Verdansk map will be changing, with a new loot pool and new points of interest around the map. A long-missing cargo container ship seems to be making its way towards Verdansk, and it’s very likely carrying some type of alien/zombie cargo. That would line-up with rumors that Verdansk may see its with a nuke event, possibly as a means of wiping out a potential zombie outbreak. Treyarch is also teasing that something is rumbling deep underground on the map, though players will likely have to get further into the season to learn what exactly is in store.

And, of course, there are a batch of new operators, weapon blueprints, challenges, and various cosmetics for players to check out. It’s a beefy package for players to sink their teeth into, even if some of the content won’t be available at the start of the season and will be coming over the next few weeks. Black Ops Cold War continues to be a big hit, and this new season will help to continue the game’s momentum forward into the spring.
