Which Animal Crossing Facilities Are Best In Happy Home Paradise

Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ new DLC Happy Home Paradise has added a variety of new content, including the return of public facilities from the spin-off Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer. This DLC grants players the ability to design vacation homes for their favorite island residents in a new game area known as the Archipelago. As players progress through this DLC, designing homes for villagers, the ability to create public facilities becomes unlocked.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons expanded on several home design options added in Happy Home Designer. The most major change involved how furniture is placed into a room. All Animal Crossing titles prior required the player character to physically place, push, and pull items around the room, and while this aided in bringing some realism to the game with the challenge of moving, twisting, and setting up furniture for interior design, many players found it more frustrating than fun. Happy Home Designer revolutionized Animal Crossing, allowing players to move furniture in the room, no longer concerned about their player being in the way of trying to fit furniture where they want it, and this new design carried on into Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Happy Home Paradise is a natural next step from Happy Home Designer, bringing the original home design revolution to the Nintendo Switch. As players design vacation homes for their villagers, and as certain thresholds are crossed, players gain the ability to construct multiple public facilities for both themself and villagers to enjoy. These facilities include a cafe, a restaurant, a school, a hospital, and an apparel shop. All five of Animal Crossing’s new facilities become unlocked as the player advances in the DLC, and all of them help the Archipelago feel more alive and lived-in, making it difficult to find a clear best. Different players will prioritize different aspects of the facilities, and the best option may differ from player to player, depending on what features said facilities have, or how they look.

Certain Facilities In Happy Home Paradise Provide Special Features

Which Animal Crossing Facilities Are Best In Happy Home Paradise

The five facilities of Happy Home Paradise don’t only exist as additional areas to customize outside of villagers’ domiciles. Many of these facilities also offer various special features, granting additional incentives for players to build and customize these public spaces. The different features offered may appeal to different kinds of Animal Crossing players, and knowledge of what each offers is important to know.

The school facility allows players to build a classroom for their villagers, assigning villagers as teachers and students and engaging in a standard schoolday. Once a day, players can speak to the character they assigned as the teacher and receive one of Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ Plumeria shrubs for planting. Currently, the only other way to get these is through going on Kapp’n tours, and finding an island with Plumeria shrub isn’t guaranteed, so getting a school up and running may provide an easier way to obtain the shrub starter for players seeking them.

The cafe facility is a quaint little coffee shop for villagers, in which the player assigns certain NPCs to be wait staff, and others are the customers. By speaking to the wait staff, players get access to being able to purchase food and beverage items from the cafe, with a menu that changes every day. The cafe facility also provides an alternative way of acquiring food in Animal Crossing: New Horizons without cooking for oneself.

Similarly, the restaurant facility allows for another dining area on the Archipelago. In addition to wait staff and customers, though, players can also assign chefs to the kitchen in the back of the restaurant to cook up exciting new meals. Speaking to the chef will allow players to obtain new recipes everyday, a very handy and steady source for acquiring Animal Crossing’s sought-after cooking DIY recipes.

Next up is Happy Home Paradise’s hospital. The hospital allows for the Archipelago to have a spot for villagers to be nursed back to health in the event of sickness or injury. Players are able to assign certain NPCs are receptionists, doctors, and nurses. Speak to the receptionist, and then a doctor will grant the player special hospital-themed clothing each day they visit.

Happy Home Paradise’s Apparel Shop Is A Great Way To Spend Poki

Finally, the apparel shop brings shopping to the archipelago, a spot where villagers can purchase new outfits. Villagers can be assigned to work in the shop. This facility’s special feature is very straightforward – players get to shop in the clothing store when this facility is completed, with the available clothing being changed daily. Unlike Animal Crossing’s Able Sisters clothing shop, players get to select a clothing style for the shop to specialize in, and during music festivals, the shop will instead sell merchandise related to the event. It’s a dynamic new change that Happy Home Paradise brings to New Horizons, and one that makes the apparel shop one of the most valuable new facilities in the game.

Out of all of the facilities on offer on Happy Home Paradise’s Archipelago, the restaurant and hospital have some of the most sought-after options with their main feature, between daily DIY recipes and daily apparel. Additionally, the apparel shop allows an additional way for players to buy items with Poki, Animal Crossing’s Archipelago currency, in addition to containing unlimited stock of the six clothing items the store will have for sale. These special features can help players to expand their main island with new clothes and DIY recipes, while simultaneously continuing down the path of the interior decorating DLC.

Happy Home Paradise’s facilities act as interactive pieces of the world to add more life to the Archipelago. Animal Crossing: New Horizons continued a trend started in Happy Home Designer of giving the facilities additional purpose outside of being another set of rooms to decorate around a theme. All of the facilities have special features that will benefit players, and provide unique interactions with NPCs not normally seen in the series. Each facility has merit, whether it’s for those unique interactions, the potential for designs, or the special features granted from creating and visiting them.
